Does having American politicians getting celebrities to back them in elections actually get them votes?

I find it so stupid but politicians use celebrities to back them in elections in the USA.

I get Americans are stereotyped as stupid and ignorant to the rest of the world but that is obviously not 1000% ture before anyone comes for me.

Do they really think you guys are that stupid but you'll vote for them if they pay Tyler Swift, a woman who's made a very successful career of writing songs about choosing the wrong person, tell you who you should vote for.

What do celebrities like Beyonce who's heavily involved with P diddy have in common with the average working American.

If politicians used these tactics in the UK they'd get laughed at and called out of touch.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone ever say I'm voting Labour because Harry Styles said I should in the UK
