u 5 mo1. Every person, including celebrities, has the right to express their political opinions.
2. Some celebrities are arrogant and believe that, because they have celebrity status, their opinion should be given more weight than the opinions of non-celebrities. Many people understandably resent this attitude.
3. All people have the right to react to the opinions expressed by others. The Dixie Chicks had the right to say that they were ashamed of their president. Radio stations had the right to stop playing their songs and fans had the right to stop buying their music and attending their concerts.
4. From a business standpoint, it is wiser for celebrities to not express political opinions so they can avoid alienating any part of their fan base.41 Reply- 5 mo

5 moCelebrities have a platform. And they have free speech too. Their opinions come with potential consequences to their bank account if they say something unpopular. I'm OK with them making their opinions known.

5 moBecause most are not educated enough to have an opinion that is constructive. And with power comes responsibility. I wouldn't be surprised if many of them even know what a senator's term is compared to a congress person's and why. They have the ability to sway many people, especially the younger Gens. But just because they can doesn't mean they should. If they got up and informed their fans to do their own research or to show up at the voting booth with their IDs and vote their beliefs, that would be great. But most if not all are using their fan base to promote their own agendas.

5 moCelebrities have the same “say” the rest of us do… they can share their thoughts and feelings with their family and friends, and they can vote. Politics is a CONVERSATION.
When they use their fame to express themselves, but aren’t engaged in a conversation, then they’re just preaching. They have no business preaching to anyone. They’re no better than anyone who might hear their message.
This was all inevitable as soon as we figured out that the person who gets elected is the one who gets the most air time. Most voters are morons. They WILL do exactly as their favorite “celebrity” tells them despite having completely different interests and value systems.
In the end, most celebrities speaking out are just angling for more wealth and power, just like the politicians they endorse.
Those going on shows like “Real Time” and having real conversations in which their perspectives are challenged, that’s different.10 Reply - 1.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
5 moEvery person in America has the privilege to express their personal thoughts in public and this should always continue. If this current administration as they have already tried had their way only broadcasts that promote or favor them would be allowed on US TV or radio.
The down side is that you have many with the intelligence of a rat and not able to use thought when listening to some of the political rhetoric bein spewed upon them to figure out which is total BS and which has some truth to it. Your MAGA hillbillies are the most retarded of the bunch.

Proff positive that everyone has a right to express their opinion. And as long as they aren't bothered with how they come off looking then so be it.
5 moA smart celebrity knows their public image is EVERYTHING to their career. It’s why many celebrities refuse to make such endorsements, because they know alienating themselves from a certain group could affect that carefully curated image. However, some also know that bolstering their career by taking certain political stances can not only appeal to the audience they already want to cement as their own, but can potentially influence groups of people who otherwise would have done nothing about the situation. They have more power than they often care to admit, it’s not a lot but their influence carries weight, it’s why you always see celebrity sponsorship deals since those companies know that too.

u 5 moThese days, I think celebrities should STFU about politics. Most of them are political preachers, activists, and commentators who sometimes moonlight as actors or singers. Of those, the overwhelming majority are completely out of touch with us peasants and what we think about on a daily basis.
They can have their opinions, but if they must share them, they should be as discreet and prudent as possible.

5 moeh, sure, whatever floats their boat. and that granny madonna keeps remarrying young men so often it creeps my parents out. they're adults, aren't they? i just dont really see the point in listening to the political or economic opinion of musicians. if they had degrees in it, okay, i might listen in, but if they were any good at it, wouldn't they make way more money that way instead of having to go on tour all the time and never seeing their friends?

5 moIn the end of the day, a celebrity is a person too who has the same rights as others, so whether you like their opinions about politics or not, it's up to you, but that doesn't change a thing if still like to watch them or hear them because i respect other people's opinions and i know that not everybody are forced to be like me!

u 5 moI don’t follow celebrities, so I rarely notice what they say anyway. But I think it can be useful when they shine their lights on important topics, e. g. plastic pollution, vaccines skepticism or cancer research.

5 moThey're just people that have fame and they're entitled to their opinions but they shouldn't use their stature to preach to the rest of us how to act, react or think!! Especially if they don't wanna lose fans!!

5 moI don't care. Celebrities are self important douchebags who think their shit doesn't stink... I don't attach any relevance to anything they say or do. I'm a firm believer that one's political opinions should be kept mostly private, and NOT made a part of their personality.

5 moI ignore them, just like I ignore when they advertise products. What experience do they have with politics or the products that they get paid to advertise? Stick with acting.
10 Reply 3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's freedom of speech however such thing can lead to more elitism which is a bad thing. Using their class to promote voting in one way more.

Like election of a billionaire on a platform of improving the plight of the middle class? Rich people have certainly gained, but ask working class people if they can afford health care.

5 moWe are all free to make our political options know if we choose to do so.
The real issues is why anyone would care what a celebrity has to say about anything. They dont live in the real world so who cares what they think?

5 moI believe in freedom of speech so celebrities should have the right to endorse whom they please. I have the right not to listen to them.
10 Reply 5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. They have to eat and shit just like everybody else. So their opinions are the same as anybody else's. I got no problem with that.

5 moC) I don't really care, but they should realize the "wrong stance" will alienate up to 40 or 50% of their audience.
10 Reply 8.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. They can have their opinions of course but they shouldn't be speaking on it unless they are willing to alienate the part of their fanbase that disagrees.

10 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Only stupid people would change their opinion based on a celebrity's opinion. Also, it is mostly women that base their opinions on what celebrities think.
