I had to stop watching coverage about the election because I have a sinking feeling in my stomach that Kamala Harris will be our next president.

Yesterday when I saw that in Michigan Trump and Kamala were both tied at 49%, well, that's when I said to myself it's over! Another repeat of four years ago.

I hate to say it, but if Trump was way ahead in most states but he's not. They are pretty close with each other.
I would have expected Trump to have significant gains over Kamala but he doesn't.

@daniela1982 In the 70s Nixon implemented a 90 day freeze on prices to try and tame inflation. It was a dismal failure. Legislating businesses to not charge a fair price for their goods and services will just result in fewer businesses.

Yes, but it is what the market will bear. Everyone is doing that, from drug companies to auto manufacturers. Have you seen the $80k prices for a new truck? Cars are not much cheaper. And houses and rents? Good grief! If everyone stopped buying this stuff the prices would either drop or businesses would close. Take your pick.

Some of his ideas are great ideas and would hope the Dem's if elected would take note of them and work on solving the problems. With trump it's more about the ignorant ass with the very toxic mouth that makes me sick. I did notice Mr exitseven that you are 53 years old and I would think by this time in your life you must have some kind of retirement portfolio with a 401, IRA, etc as my husband and I do. For the last few years they have been doing excellent and have increased in value maybe close to 25% so YES I am a lot better off than 4 years ago as is anyone who has had investments.

To Exitseven, I am also curious why it is you did nto take advantage of having saved for retirement, or had a portfolio ready. I had one which was doing well, and I converted that into some Roth IRAs. They have never done so well in the past few years.
Just so you know, Trump's economy was NOT good when he left as president, it was much worse as was the job employment, and the deficit grew about 8 Trillion dollars when he left. But it was good when he inherited Obama's economy.

I watched my retirement account double during the Trump years despite the covid pandemic. Something it had never done in the 30 years I had it. I watched it plummet shortly after Biden was installed. It has recently gotten back to where it was before Biden was president. The problem is that it is now can only buy maybe 80% of what it could buy before Bidenflation.
I have recently retired but I am not nearly as confident in my decision as I thought but I think if Harris is elected we are all screwed anyway.

My husband is in the investment business on the world stage so I've learned a little from him. One thing is this that if Trump wins the only ones that will be reaping great result will be the almighty already rich crowd. Regardless who wins it is believed there will be a downturn for a short time until the new government (whichever one it is) gets into business and the direction it begins to go. Again if you are not one who hand picks every one of your investments a very large portion of most are diversified among many smaller options which grow with the support of us common folks and not the Trump Musk elite (even though State of New York might get into Trumps portfolio)

When Trump won in 2016 the stock market took a big jump the next day and did not look back until the economy was shut down with covid.

Again, I agree with you 100% in that the only folks who will benefit from Trump's unfortunate election, are those millionaires and billionaires who he promises to get the greatest tax breaks. People like Elon Musk. Nothing eat all for the middle class or poor. I am a little less hopeful with you when you mention NY state might get into Trump's portfolio. They have let him get away with a lot more with no consequences. I am also more worried that he will remain the dictator he wants to be, and more.

The only time I ever saw my taxes go down was when Trump was president. They went down almost $$4000 too. Not exactly crumbs. It was reported in the SWJ that the middle class got the most out of Trump's tax cut.
