Before the election, some liberal celebrities made the usual threats/promises to leave the US if Trump was elected, but that is like a baby threatening to hold its breath until it turns blue. These cry babies never leave.
Is there any user on this site who intends to leave the US before January 20, 2025? If so, where do you intend to go and will you return in January, 2029 after Trump leaves office? Even if his successor is another Republican?
We're considering an exit strategy, that's for sure. Not immediately but if we begin to see the Project 2025 come to fruition, we may very well leave. I love the US and don't want to leave my home and family, but I do not want to live in a dictatorship, certainly not one ran by a narcissistic autocrat. If I am wrong, good, if the Project was just a piece of propaganda even better. But the world that is laid out in that document is simply not one that I can live in.
Where will we go, initially I have friends in Europe, the Far East and Central America most are expats and all have said we're welcome in their home while we figure it out. Our goal would be duel citizenship even if we have to buy it and settle somewhere in Europe. We're both 55 figure we have another 30 years or so, and we'll keep our property here letting relatives use it. And when we pass it'll be a decent inheritance for the kids, homes in both the US and Europe.
As for coming back I seriously doubt that if the plan comes fully into play that we will ever see another election in the US, or at least not an honest and fair one. So the point is moot as to who the next winner is.

@Kayleigh2005 Since you obviously Don't know what I am talking about let me lay it out the 3 issues I have with Project 2025 are:
1 the removal of the checks and balances in the US and placing all power in the executive branch. It is a radical restructuring of the US government and essentially changes our president into a king in all but name.
2. The deploying of US military on US soil, the Posse Comitatus Act is there for a reason. I don't want to live in a country that sends its military might to go from door to door looking for undesirables.
3. The outlawing of porn, my company (the one I own) makes animated adult short films, create adult video games and owns an adult website, under Project 2025 I could be arrested and sent to prison for my companies activities. These are the issues to me. I know that there is much more involved but these are my personal concerns.

Why I believe it may come about:
Project 2025 is a document published by the Heritage Foundation on their website, authored by many people in the incoming government including the vice president. It is not a "secret document" nor has any author denounced it. It is a 900 page document that is primarily fulled with pages of who wrote each section. It was written as a blueprint and instructions starting with day 1 of the new presidency.
It systematically and explicitly describes how to do just that. Centralize power on the executive branch giving step by step instructions.
@Staximus I hope you are correct. If so then no harm no foul. And like I said if things start rolling out as they are laid out, we will go. I did say IF we begin to see things go in that direction... I'm cautiously optimistic that the republic will prevail. But I am also practical enough to know that empires fall and sticking ones head in the sand is not productive.

Project 2025 has nothing to do with Trump. As a matter of fact they tried to stop Trump form being elected. They tried to stop him during the primaries and at the convention. That's because he does not align himself that that group. If he really planned on carrying out their agenda, ask yourself why they tried to stop his presidency. If his views aligned with theirs, they would have backed him.
That group is far right. Even the most conservative presidents didn't align with the entire agenda of that group.

Frankly, it’s not a feasible option. I’m not about to up-end my entire life I’ve built with my partner, quit my schooling, and leave all I know.
I’m not happy he was elected, but honestly and realistically, he’s most likely not going to follow through on most, if any, of the doomsday stuff he spewed.

His election does possibly jeopardize my right to marry as a lesbian woman. But, I’m not about to drop everything in my life and leave a place I love, and let him win again.
I don’t think he’ll have the time or political resources to challenge same-sex marriage in 4 years. Even his religious supporters would be nervous about wading into something like that.

But the US propagates its news all over the world, so even though I've never even been there I was “forced” keep up with all the politics and the celebrity gossip and the sports and any other newsworthy thing that comes out

It's not easy to just up and move without transferable skills to maintain your current lifestyle. Do you have transferable skills?
Do you know or have been studying the language?

You won't have the same privileges being a foreigner, do you think you'll actually be higher on the pole in someone else's society?
