I've said yes but it is more complicated than genetics. If a high IQ girl and guy procreate the child is not more likely to be high IQ in the same way the child of tall parents is likely to be. Most likely the child will revert to the mean 100 points or at least be less than the parents because they are outliers.
Nurture is not the answer. You can get better IQ scores by training on IQ style tests but the results are not enduring and more natural IQ shows a tendency to increase with age rather than fall.
Oddly perhaps IQ correlates with reaction times and is sometimes used as a proxy measurement of IQ.
It is political to say men are smarter than women but in well founded tests there is a 5 point advantage. As women have spent 2 million years sexually selecting for smart men but men spent that time sexually selecting for cute girls it is not surprising there is a sexual aspect to IQ.
Overall too early to answer the question. In time we should be able to answer.
Early twin studies of adult individuals have found a heritability of IQ between 57% and 73%,[6] with some recent studies showing heritability for IQ as high as 80%.[7] IQ goes from being weakly correlated with genetics for children, to being strongly correlated with genetics for late teens and adults.
I don't know how to qualify the term "mostly." IQ averages do trend very strongly with genetics, in regards to ethnicity. Just like height, hormones, breast size, penis size, health risks and more. Environmental factors are a big component too. Everything is nature AND nurture, not nature OR nurture. This is a basic reality that's discovered in the health field.
Some families have a history of dumbness, but it could be things like ADHD or some other mild disabilities. Sometimes you have no clue until you start having children and they have signs of the same traits that you have. You just had no clue you had it when you were a kid.

My understanding is a qualified "yes." From what I've read, you have a genetic endowment of IQ, but you can fuck it up and lower it if you have bad environmental exposure (malnutrition, too much drug use). There is little if anything you can do to increase IQ. But obviously, you can put what IQ you DO have to better or worse use by studying and doing work.
nutrition definitely matters.
For sure. I think exposure to pollution is the other big one that drops IQ
Makes sense.
From what I know if it yes. IQ is not something you can simply accumulate. You can gain more knowledge, become more knowledgable, your ability to think and solve mental problems can be honed as well but your innate level of intelligence to grasp concepts and everything else is pretty much genetics.
Iq tests are garbage with proven biases towards specific groups
what do you mean? I'm guessing Jews came up with the tests because they score the highest
Oh gross, your racism ruined it
Bullshit. Your leftists programming insists "everyone is equal", which is crap.
@KrakenAttackin actually she is right
@Kingofkings1992 "The Economist" did a global survey on race and IQ many years ago. The studies they cited showed marked differences in IQ before kids started school and had a chance to be "oppressed".
By always pointing the finger away from the real issue will only guarantee the issues aren't solved.
@Kingofkings1992 Evaluating things as either fact or fiction based on how offensive it is to different ethnic groups isn't very scientific
@Gospeedracer That's right, when science doesn't jive with wokeness it gets called "racist".
I mean doesn't that just make sense? if your theory is right that it's biased towards a certain group (implying the makers of the tests are racists) then the people who have the highest scores would've made it up
Yes. However it's only noticeable over 3-4 generations. Often have dumbass parents very intelligent children
to some degree yes but environment still plays a factor
if Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton were brought up in a woke communist society, they'd be a lot different than we know them to be right now
Yes, because IQ is established at birth. Elon Musk would be just as smart if he was raised by wolves.
It is a lot like a person's weight. There is a genetic range of IQ value or weight, but education (with IQ) or type of food eaten and activity level (in the case of weight) can improve IQ results or weight.
My parents had normal intelligence (but A THOUSAND TIMES more common sense than I!!!), but I've got a 160+ IQ.
(My parents were a bit above average-looking;at 71, I boast of GQ cover boy good looks !!!)
Depends how you measure it. Asking a bunch of Africans about George Washington is not a good test
is that really how IQ tests work? general knowledge? a lot of people don't care to memorize general knowledge
Depends on the tests
It's genetic and also related to health of person.
People who have some type of illness get smarter
why is that
maybe makes the brain more excitable. I'm sure that's somewhat true. especially for philosophers
I was thinking of Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Nietzsche. I didn't know newton had epilepsy or something similar
I'm assuming being sick ironically gives you more energy to investigate things more deeply. if you're strong and healthy you'll likely not read much, you won't question your deepest beliefs, and really won't care about anything other than sex, food, sports, etc. Smart healthy people don't learn to think as deeply as smart unhealthy people.
IQ is bullshit
It is the neurons that connect each other. The more the cells are connected to each other the higher iq. It’s like high iq people can make more associations
yes, you can compensate by working harder but some people are more intelligent than others.
No, my parents are smart but my brother is an absolute dumbass fucktard. Shit happens I guess….
There are two known genes related to intelligence. One occurs at 70% of the population and the other at 30%; with the probability of overlap 21% of the population.
Somewhat especially some parents tend to suppress their children.
I'd say: much --- but not mostly.
Mostly but nurture is likely over 30%
No that's stupid pseudo science.
Nearly all of it, yes.
71% of you have low iq’s
No I don't think so
