Theoretically, that is. Could the gym kick me out without getting sued and criminally charged? Misgendering is a crime in my state, so I could have the gym staff, and members, all arrested for calling me a man.

u 1 yYou'd first need a court order and a gender change through your state before they would change your gender at the dmv. If you want to go through all that hassle just to spy on women then that's on you. I'd recommend sticking with your porn watching habits to get what you need from that and just leave women in the real world alone.

Asker1 yI don't need a court order in California. I just have to complete a form for the ID. It only takes a few minutes. Not a hassle at all really. Especially if you already have to go there for a renewal. Just do both at the same time. There is my qualifications either. They can't deny anyone unless they want to get arrested.
And wouldn't I be a real women if I believed I was one? What would qualify me as not real to you?
Asker1 yThere are no*

Do you believe you are one or are you doing it just to spy on women?
Asker1 yI believe I am one

Then I believe it would just be down to the laws for your state.
Asker1 yalright then I'm all set. But I get the feeling I won't be too popular on Monday evening. It's a social barrier more than a legal one tbh.

Probably not, but things will start changing once you start hormones and get surgeries done
Asker1 yI don't think I could ever do surgery or hormones though, but I'm sure you're right about it. Thanks for having a chat with me about this all.

Anonymous(25-29)1 yYou can't change your gender at the DMV, that's just where you get the (already official) change applied to your drivers liscence. Depending on your state you will need a court order, letter of approval from a doctor, record of surgery, and maybe even more...

Opinion Owner1 yTo answer your actual question though, your gender is mostly irrelevant to that kind of situation. Even if you were born a woman, you could be kicked out of a gym restroom and banned if someone claims you were being disruptive. Even if you were not a woman at all, you could sue for discrimination and claim you did nothing wrong. However, "theoretically," if this question is found in an account history attached to you email, you would certainly lose the case if you did sue...
Asker1 yIn California we don't need any of that. We can change our gender anytime we want. And surgery isn't required in any state that I've ever heard of. Maybe some other countries require that though.
Opinion Owner1 yProof of surgery is required in my own state, and a few others. Even in California, you need a court order to make it official. Only then can you take the order to the DMV and have the change applied to your liscence.
Asker1 yIt's not required in California: www.csulb.edu/.../changing-your-gender
Asker1 yWhy would this question negate my gender identity? I didn't say that I don't believe my gender to be the opposite of my biological sex. There isn't some objective metric that the government can apply to say that my gender identity isn't good enough either.
Opinion Owner1 yI was misinformed; you only need a court order if you move there, not if you are born there. You would need to fill out a declaration form instead—which is much easier.
None of this invalidates your gender. That's not what I meant at all. Because this is such a politicized topic right now, you could get kicked out of a bathroom no matter what your gender is, and you could sue for it no matter what your gender is. If you want to go into a women's bathroom, you don't need to get your gender changed legally to do that. It will not protect you if you do either. I'm trans myself, and have been using the correct restroom for over a year. If you live in a more liberal area you should have no issue as long as you behave normally.
Asker1 yAh I understand your point then. Thank you for clarifying
Opinion Owner1 yYou're welcome.

1 yWho cares. There's two genders. Move along. Nothing to see here..

Asker1 yI care. And even if there are two genders, our gender doesn't have to match the sex we were born as. And if there are more than two genders, is wouldn't change the fact that a male can still be a woman. With the full legal and ethical right to go into women's spaces.

Gender and sex are different as you point out. 2 genders, many expressive sexes. IDC how anyone comports themselves, I support them 100% but biologically there are two genders

@exitseven Even the shithole States you named cannot casually violate people's civil rights even though you wish they could. At least not yet - maybe after January.

1 yI bet you’d like that. Seriously, no one who’s actually trans does that. Funny how the creeps and pedos are always cis white guys

Asker1 yLike what? How do you know that no one that is trans does that? How do you know the race and gender status of anyone doing it? How do you know my race or whether I'm trans or not? Just because the question hurt your feelings doesn't mean you have magical superpowers. Where did you even get pedophilia from? Have you ever been capable of honesty in your entire life?

I did my own research. Unlike you who just blathered on with your chicken-shit hate-filled nonsense
Asker1 yWas your research at the hot end of a crack pipe?

To change your gender in California, you can:
File a petition: Fill out a petition to request a court order to change your gender and name. You can use the California Courts Self-Help (. gov) website to find the proper forms.
File the petition and pay the fee: File the petition and pay the fee, or request a fee waiver.
Get a court hearing date: Attend the court hearing date.
Receive a signed order: If the judge approves your request, you'll receive a signed order.
Update your legal documents: Use the signed order to update your legal documents, such as your birth certificate, driver's license, social security, and passport.
Asker1 yThis might be out of date information. There's no court requirements here unless you're not from the state. Thank you for sending me information though.
Asker1 yI've been considering it for the better part of a decade. I don't know if I'll ever pull the trigger. My wife has always been supportive. It's just the logistics of it are something I can't wrap my head around. That's why I asked this weird and blunt question. It's not like the world suddenly sees someone as a woman just because the government gives you the title. But at the same time, what does it take? Do trans women just one day say "alright, I'm on the other side now. Wish me luck" or something?
Anyways, I'm ranting...
Asker1 yYeah, born here so I'm fortunate enough to have a very easy process ahead of me compared to other states. It's literally three separate forms for DMV, SS and the records office for the birth certificate. I'm 100x more concerned about the social aspect though. That hurdle dramatically high in my mind

Asker1 yDoes that mean yes, or no? It's a 100% legitimate curiosity, and has nothing to do with trolling. If you can't handle a simple thought experiment, that's on you.
