Elon Musk "Jokingly" Wants To Buy MSNBC, What Are Your Thoughts?

Elon Musk and other conservative online personalities are riffing on an idea about the X owner buying media outlet MSNBC. Donald Trump Jr. tagged Musk in a quoted post Friday hinting at a hypothetical sale of the outlet. The post appeared to reference Comcast's recent announcement that it would spin off some of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including MSNBC, into a new public company. While there's no indication of anything like this happening just quite yet, the billionaire did give a similar response years before buying Twitter. What are your thoughts about this? Do you think Elon Musk is joking on the issue, or do you see him possibly buying MSNBC? If he does happen to somehow purchasing MSNBC (he did end up buying Twitter so who knows), what do you see happening to other news stations, especially those that are left-winged?

Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post. Yes it’s not a media company like MSNBC. But it is a company based on information the population, similar to MSNBC.




You don’t want monopolies. And the biggest problem is media companies on both sides stopped reporting on current events with an impartial point of view.

I think it is simply too good a joke not to run with mostly.

What value does MSNBC have? Any assets other than a couple of sets? Is there any good will value left now? If it had goodwill and an audience that could be purchased it might be worth a few $'s.

Everybody seems to be enjoying the joke as much as Musk. Including Comcast who have doubled down on the joke in calling the new entity Spinco. I think I like that half of the joke best.

Comcast is trying to offload MSNBC, and will probably sell it at a really cheap price. Elon Musk is probably too rich for it. It sure is interesting watching the MSNBC people react to it even if Elon is just joking.
