It's part of down side to being a guy. you don't have to menstruate every month, carry aroung baby 9 months and all the other obligations of wommen. But you might have to go die in the hull of a ship or get blown out of the sky in a fireball.

Realize, 3 of 4 is in a support role... I'm sure you could run a computer or something rather than front line. but you don't have that choice.

Your profile says you are in the US. There is no mandatory service and no active draft in the US. So you don't have to lie to avoid anything. You just don't join.

Now if there WAS an active draft, I think it depends on the war. If it's about truly defending the country, then yes I think you should serve. If it's some kind of overseas war that we have no business being in, that's another story.

I was the least year to sign up for the Vietnam era draft. If I got drafted, I had no intention of going. It had nothing to do with being a coward. It's because that war was idiotic. They weren't even trying to win. If they would have truly tried to win, they would have won, with a lot less casualties on both sides. So no, I would not have gone, and it had nothing to do with being a coward or unpatriotic.

There hasn’t been a draft since the late sixties or early seventies. Not sure of the exact date. Registration was stopped in March of 1975! I guess it has since been reinstated.
