How do people teach cat that they know how to use a litter box?

So one cat... you need two litter boxes in different areas of the house.

Show the cat the litter boxes... and they will automatically know that it is their toilet. Simple lol 😉

I really do not think there was much of a trick to it. Just keep the box in the same place and show the cat the box. They somehow figure it out.
