What do you know about the French Revolution?

Not as much as I should and a lot of what I do know stems from my childhood and youth. As an adult, I might think differently in some aspects now.

It seems to have the same proximate causes as the English revolution/civil war. An absolute monarch needing more money and reluctance of parliament/parlement to grant the same. Neither Charles I or Louis XVI had called a parliament before wanting more money and discovered opposition.

Any theory of government was lacking at the time of the English civil war but there had been much thought given to that by the time of the French revolution and there was the USA as living example. So I wonder at that aspect and I would think there must have been some influence from this. Robespierre quoted Rousseau so at least there was this much but I am just not aware of the degree.

No one can be unaware of Bastille or Robespierre and the committee of public safety. I still don't have Robespierre properly slotted into the pantheon of evil dictators in my mind.

In short I know little as an adult.

It was a Satanic Communist Revolution driving by Aristocratic Freemasons (Devil Worshipers) that spread propaganda to take God out of government, sabotaged food system with crop failures to agitate the common man with starvation, and used mass produced propaganda to generate a mass formation psychosis through a fear psyop in order for one group of rich people to kill and plunder another group of rich people in a push for the New World Order. Before it took place, France was the richest most populated nation in Europe. It was then flung into chaos, people were murdered like dogs in the street without a fair trial, their wealth was stolen, freedom of religion was stripped from the people, they imposed price fixing and destroyed the economy, and in mass they were pushed to war with all their neighbors to die in fields of battle. The French became Satanic cultists and bathed in blood in the streets. Hell as it were... Now France is little more than a joke for children to laugh and tease about.

Here's something that might interest you it's a medal awarded at the Bala Eisteddfod, 1789. The medal was designed by Augustus Duprê, General Engraver of French Money to the National Assembly of France. The commission caused quite stir at the time in Britain for obvious reasons.

I started writing a time travel book series two years ago about five individuals who died and returned to Earth to travel through time to face their fears, and I learned quite a bit about history in the process. Tye French Revolution happened between 1789 to 1799. King Louis XVI was executed by the guillotine. Napoleone established the French consulate. There were several wars during the revolution: The War of the First Coalition happened between 1792 to 1797, and the War of the Second Coalition was between 1798 to 1802, though there were several wars.

I heard the people in the middle politically are the ones that got killed, the far extremes were the survivors. true? Some people tried to mediate... and that did not go well for them.

It's a case of "picking a side", and that is bad.

This is happening again as cycles repeat... in USA, you can see similar vibes. it's driven by inequality. the one sides solution is to inflate and redistribute. that has been played out.

if people come together as community to help each other, it's good. but we lack even the training and unity they had in france at that time and are more spoiled. Do the values of USA hold us together, given we are a mishmash of the globe of citizens?

Not much more than you'd likely find in the summary of the Wikipedia article. Well, maybe a little bit more, but it's not something I have studied. I'm much more familiar with British history, which is probably typical of most Americans, given our relationship with the British.

I'm sure I studied it in school, but forgot that ages ago.

To be honest, most of what I know came from Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities, which I read much more recently than my school days. I've read a little since then, but I still only know a small amount.

There has to be a very strong undercurrent to win that kind of revolution.

Tennis Court Oath, Reign of Terror, The Invention of The Guillotine, King & Queen fleeing though being founded out due to a coin or a stamp or something, Maximilian Robespiere, etc.

I remember a lot from it since I’m a history lover, if I didn’t love history as much as I do…. Probably wouldn’t remember what American Highschool taught me on the whole subject.

As far as I know the French Revolution was a massive uprising in which the people overthrew the monarchy, ended feudalism, and fought for liberty, equality, and fraternity. It led to the execution of King Louis  and Queen Marie Antoinette and the establishment of France as a republic. It inspired revolutions around the world, but also led to chaos through events such as the Reign of Terror.

A lot of people got their heads chopped off. There are written accounts of King Louis, that his neck was so big, he had to have his head chopped of twice because the guillotine blade got stuck halfway through during the first chopping.
