Trending & News I think is wrong. People should have freedom and self determination. That said, how bad some people seem to think it was is exaggerated. People did manual labor, and in exchange they were housed, clothed, and fed at basically poverty levels. It's not a good life, but a lot of people today still do manual labor for low wages which barely house and feed them. You may say, but they were whipped... and to that I say it's exaggerated... People were beat when they didn't do their job but were still housed, fed, and clothed... Psychologically nobody should be a slave, but the brutality of slave ownership kind of falls on deaf ears with me. The aristocracy that could afford slaves weren't just beating the shit out of them just because. A salve cost several hundred thousand dollars in today's money. That's like running around a house you bought with a hammer and just knocking holes in the wall for fun. It's not going to happen. They invested in a tool to do a job and the profitability of that tool meant you had to keep it functioning so that you could earn a living just like renting a house out. This is how white people see whipping...

I do think today in some place, wealthy people do buy humans and exploit them, but it's pretty much the same thing. They are forced to do manual labor/sex work and someone is profiting off their labor. In exchange they are housed, clothed, and fed. It's bad situation, but you have to keep it in perspective.
100% it does, in various ways.
sad and pathetic. there should be some fundamental human rights... global.

That’s what I heard multiple times in documentaries about Africa and the Arabic countries.
no I mean would you not consider moving someone from a poor country like Greece to America to work for cheap on threat of deportation and making it impossible to quit is a form of slavery
Greece is not a poor country. They were paying their train conductors 70.000€ per year before the financial crisis.
I would file human trafficking under slavery and there's a lot of human tracking going on
There is still slavery in many countries. Nobody wants to talk about it.
You just have to look at the prison systems
In very poor countries it does.
