The older stuff seems to have more character and visual interest for me. And tha craftsmanship / style seems like something that will never be duplicated today because people just don't place a value on architecture as art. It's purely functionality and cost driven. But here in the US we don't have those 200+ year old public buildings or neighborhoods. Some modern skylines look cool for their minimalist sleek simplicity. But in North America the only thing I can recall being close to an old European city vibe is Quebec city in Canada.

I prefer old buildings with grand, monumental, baroque, or art deco architecture. They had details just for the sake of beauty. Nobody spends money on stuff like that anymore.
I like the traditional styles of architecture from cultures around the world.

There are beautiful buildings of all ages, styles, architecture. The advantage modern buildings have over old ones is energy efficiency.

Depends! Some old buildings are nice to see and look at, newer building have better amenities for the most part

Both! I love architecture & engineering!! Every human structure has a "personality" that is the vision of its creators & users. The interplay between them is FASCINATING!!

One of the best undergrad classes I took was urban planning. Wish I still had the recommended readings list!!

Certainly Old , historic construction and more often than not making great sense , detail , one of the awesome things about so many parts of Europe , just magnificent.

Older buildings are a work of art & a lot of them have stood the test of time & are modern marvels on their own. As for me I like newer buildings that are up to code.

I like Victorian style houses. Newer buildings aren’t always better considering a lot of things are cheaply constructed nowadays.

The old buildings were built to last. Poured concrete over rebar as how most were constructed. The buildings today are made a cheap as possible and 50years later they are ready for the wrecking ball.
