The drone strike did not destroy 1/3rd of their air force. It destroyed 1/3rd of their bombers.

But yeah, this was inevitable. Russia has overextended and can't protect their rear forces or nation. They have been losing critical infrastructure since forever, meaning that Ukraine could have gone after Russias air force if they had wanted to. This is not really a change of what is happening in Russia as much as its a change of target priority in Ukraine. For whatever reason they decided that these planes were more valuable than an oil refinery, maybe they are right, maybe they are wrong, either way something was going to blow up on that day and what that would be is depending on what strategy Ukraine is following.

I think NATO has done a great job of using Ukraine as a proxy to gut Russian military manpower, weapons delivery systems, ammunition, and cash. The Russian navy, air force, and ground forces have all been slaughtered under a centralized command structure and people who have no will to fight. Putin's military has been revealed as smoke and mirrors owned by a bully. They are all bluff and no fight. Completely incompetent.
