Do folks living in hurricane zones care about Trump's DOGE cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service, because they should?

After all the lying they did about FEMA relief not being available last year, or lying about how much people got. they're on a quest to finally make it true. I guess that is more in line with Republicans' views though. Once you're born, you're on your own.

Americans only care when things happen. There is very little forethought.

that's a concern for all of us. I have no problems with cutting govt, we have to adjust. But like you said, we have to face reality and the risks and up our game. We have lots of technology available... we can see hurricanes coming and prepare and evacuate. most problems are not due to information is it? More awareness, bad decisions by individuals... and possibly logistics.. like pre charging their electric car for a long drive. That is an area we all can take responsibility for and is cheap.

So justify that the risk of the cuts cannot be mitigated rather than complain.

Peopleare not used to govt cutting, but this is very normal in companies. You still drink soda and chew bubble gum and eat chicken... even though those companies have made many many cuts.

FAA... that is another risk, and there should be separate study as to the risks imposed, because we have less control. Most people have no clue if air travel is safe, maintenance is performed, flight systems are solid, etc..
