Both Cal and Jack are handsome young men.

Cal's pros:

Very wealthy who can provide financial stability and comfort for both Rose and her widow mom.

Has high social status and is well respected by his peers.

Well educated.

Loves Rose.

Cons:

Insecure.

Arrogant.

jealous.

bad temper.

controlling.

Jack's pros:

Easy to get along with.

Caring.

Humble.

Loves Rose.

Cons:

No financial security at all. Dead broke.

Literally homeless.

Depends on odd jobs like selling his drawings in hopes to make some money.

Neither of them tbh. Cal is kind of assholish and scary when he gets mad. If he flipped the table like that on her when they were just engaged, imagine what he would do after marriage. Also, didn't he cheat on Rose first with hookers? I believe there was a brief comment about it.

Jack, was sweet and caring and his feelings were genuine. But at the same time, she only knew him for like 3 days. He seems too free spirited, a little irresponsible, and lazy. And yeah, they didn't have any clear plans for their future either.

But I mean, Jack did give his life to save Rose... Which is why I still ship them. But from a realistic point of view the relationship didn't make much sense.

Maturity is realising that Cal wasn't controlling and had every reason to be jealous, insecure, bad tempered etc as his fiancee was cuckolding him on a cruise liner that's full of people he knows. And arrogant? Maybe confident. After a week when they get to new york Cal is supposed to marry Rose who is likely pregnant with Jack's baby. Jack is a bum and isn't going to hang around. Was Cal supposed to pretend that his fiancee is not being rawdogged by another guy that probably has an STD?

The truth is that Rose was an immature spoilt brat that didn't deserve Cal and deserved to spend the rest of her life miserable with Jack living on the street.

maturity means you know yourself enough that you know what you are able to deal with and what you are willing to deal with...

and making a relationship choice is making a years long commitment... so maturity means that we are considering our partner too... would they be happy with us? can we secure their needs? can we overlook their flaws?

so... neither of them is a good call... Cal has his mental struggles when Jack is simply irresponsible... :D

Maturity is realizing settling is never the best option when it comes to marriage. She would have not only been miserable with Cal but abused. No one should settle in a marriage like that no matter how financially stable she would have been. So Jack for sure.
