They could have both fit on the door. There's a show that proved it.
However, to be honest, that would not have necessarily made for a better story. The ending is poignant and works, exactly because Jack sacrificed himself for Rose.
Also, as an aside, imagine what the audience's response would have been if Jack was the one on that piece of wreckage and Rose was the who froze to death in the water?
As a society, we are not ready to see women sacrifice themselves for men.
As a part-time movie reviewers, I have watched a LOT of movies, both western movies (as in hemisphere, not genre) and eastern movies. And I cannot recall, off the top of my head, any movie where a woman sacrifices herself so that a man can survive. Movies where men sacrifice their lives for women are of course, legion and a dime a dozen.
Ideally, she should have stayed on the damned lifeboat, and then he could have had the door all to himself.
Then they could have met again, in the sequel, Titanic 2: Return Trip. Missed opportunity, Mr Cameron. 😣
Yes, but there wouldn't have been enough buoyancy (meaning if they both got on at the same time, the door wouldn't be able to stay afloat). I think that they should have alternated because seeing poor, beautiful Jack drown into the icy sea was too cruel.
I know! They should've taken turns
I think if they faced the same way it may have tilted the door but they could make it work if they were both kicking their legs behind them to swim to safety.

Yes! 🙈 that was so wrong in that movie just like the sky, I’d not, ask Neil DeGrasse Tyson 😂
Yes but it doesn't matter that they fit. The door wasn't buoyant enough to float with the weight of both their bodies on it
And this hear is the real answer everyone ignores.
This! thank you.
Yes. He could have just hopped right on top of her😂
wow you are so smart! yes, snuggle ontop against each other and keep warm, two bodies better together, they both live. that wood wouldn't have sunk. geezzz... why didn't I think of that... cause I'm not as observant as you!
nah, there's no way with that particular door. Mythbusters is full of crap and they used a normal door to test it. not one that was damaged from being torn loose from a sinking ship. Of course, apparently if Jack or Rose had been physics majors in college, they may have figured out a way, but not everyone comes up with brilliant scientific maneuvers while they're floating in ice cold water and struggling to survive.
Probably not cause it looked as if it was a bit under the water hard to say lol
But i mean couldnt he have found some other debris lol i would of stole someones 😛
there was actually some stupid keyboard warrior argument that had some calculations claiming that it would have been possible.
it was tested with real props in real life though and it wouldn't have worked.
They could have at least taken turns.
Another perfect example of sexism that reinforces the notion that men must always risk their lives for women or else they aren't men. And they've gotta be happy that they're doing it.
Nonsense!
Hahahah I always thought that!!!
Rose was fat but not obese! She totally caused Jack's death!!
They could’ve. But I think the door wouldn’t have supported their weight.. but I don't know 🤷🏽♀️
Probably, or rose could’ve at least let jack take a turn. That bitch be selfish as fuck lol.
Yes, or they could have alternated. People have tred water for over 24 hours.
Yeah. They tested it on Mythbusters and determined that they both could have stayed afloat and saved themselves. But wouldn't be as dramatic.
Seriously, people, you didn't watch the damn movie? They DID try to get on the door, but it couldn't float with the weight of the two of them.
Yes, mythbusters proved that both of them could've easily made it if they let the legs up to their knees stay in the water on top of the door.
I don't know they could of laid on it together to help came.
Did no one watch the movie? He tries to climb up and it starts to sink into the water.
He could've asked her to slide over a bit. Instead, Jack chose quick icy death rather than endure any frigid passive-aggressive attitude
Totally. And they should have cuddled together to keep warm. Then I bet Jack would be alive today 😢😫😥😪
It is what it is,,,,, Love can get you killed, case closed 😊...
Exactly, dude!
It's better locking ourselves. If you loved, you failed yourself!
no and it wouldn't have enough buoyancy to support them both
yes but the door would sink and they would both be in the water
Unregistered tested this. I can't remember how it went though.
Mythbusters* tested
I think they could have.
No. There wasn’t enough room for both of them.
No they could not have
Yes.
