American conservative political activist, author and right-wing populist media personality Charlie Kirk said women should only go to college to find a husband, stirring outrage from critics who lambasted the outspoken political activist. Over the weekend, hundreds of women, whose values are centered on "faith, family, country," came together for the 2025 Young Women's Leadership Summit (YWLS), the "largest conservative gathering for women in the country." The summit was held by Kirk's conservative nonprofit organization, Turning Point USA, which focuses on spreading conservative values to young adults, mainly on college campuses and in the media. Kirk took questions at the event in Dallas, Texas, where a 14 year old girl asked his advice on attending college and the pros and cons of higher education. The girl stated that she was interested in following a career in political journalism, Kirk asked all the young girls in the audience to raise their hands if their top priority is to "get married and have kids." A lot of them did raise their hands, including the girl who asked him the question. Kirk did remark by saying, "Interestingly, I think there is an argument to bring back the M-R-S degree." For those unfamiliar, "Mrs. degree" is a term who gained popularity in the 20th century to mock women who supposedly went to college just to find a husband. He then mocked women who thought they were going to school for well, school. "Don't lie to yourself, like, "I'm going, I'm studying sociology,'" Kirk said. "No, you're not, we know why you're here. And that's OK, actually! That's a really good reason to go to college, actually." "I say college is a scam, but if you're going to find your life partner, that's actually a really good reason to go to college." He also claimed that college was the ideal time for women to find husbands cause, "they're at the prime of their attractiveness." He said, "You don't get much better than that. It doesn't get better after college there."

I hate it when people tell others what to do, Charlie Kirk should mind his own damn business.

This is beyond politics in general. Women are allowed to pave their own path in life and for some it is to be a stay at home mother, for others it is to be a lawyer following in their parents’ footsteps, run for political office, or be a hairdresser, and much more. Heck, just because you are a stay at home mom or want to be doesn’t mean that your career path ends there since so many talented young women are proving themselves capable everyday that goes by.

We should be open minded to alternative pathways through life, finding individual purpose, and bridging success not rooting for a male dominant world but a world where everyone can succeed and it isn’t a sign of weakness. I’ve seen young capable men too, make it through art school instead of traditional electrician or mechanical engineering which is also okay.

All you can be is yourself, so be the best you that you can be.
Let people be whoever they are, and you can be your true self too.
When we go through life the way we envision it for ourselves, it can be like magic.

it is one thing to go to college to be a nurse or a teacher but to go for sociology is a waste of time for both men and women. Charlie Kirk never went to college so he has a unique perspective on it.

Well, to be honest this situation is kind of on a spectrum.

I agree with him for the most part that in many instances college is a total scam and a total waste of time. It ends of promoting the young drinking and partying and becoming degenerate, sleeping around like crazy, spring breaks, partying and many end up indoctrinated by Marxist, radical, leftist ideas and to become little activists protesting all of these made up issues or causes.

A large amount of degrees are worthless and do not lead to high paying careers. So much of these "Communications", "Liberal Studies", "Business", "Minority Studies", Women's Studies", "Dance Studies", "Lesbian/Gay Studies", "Art History", "Philosophy",

You end up with lots of debt, no marketable skills leading to jobs. College is best for the major things that REQUIRE formal education like: doctors, lawyers, nurses, banking/finance, scientists, mathematics, engineering... etc.

The question is about women. Many end their relationships to go away to school and fall into the degenerate life and get indoctrinated like I said. Unless they are actually going after one high paying jobs that require formal training than college is a waste.

People who act like a woman doing her biological main function in life... having a family is "wrong" or a "waste" and that she should instead just go to college and grad school and party for her entire 20's... her best years for finding a mate and having a family they just hate the natural order of life and biology and one of life's main purposes. College, partying, sleeping around, having abortions, traveling all the time to club, be degenerate, toil at a job for 40/50 hours a week. That is the highest calling. I'd say that is misguided.

She has it backwards. When you look at the numbers actually there have never been fewer men going to college and even fewer are graduating because the system is so broken. I say this as someone with two parents who were college professors. Collage is a scam. It's all politics and no education of any real substance and nobody gives a fuck about your degree if you don't have experience. Women want men that make more than them too so if you have a high paying collage career like being a surgeon or something good luck. If you want your SO to have a college education heads up only 34% of men are going now and even fewer are graduating and even fewer are making good money after. All these factors combined it's probably less than 10% of men that you think are good enough. Woman flat out just need to lower their standards or a lot of them will be single for life. Especially their financial expectations in this economy most womans views on how much a man should make are outright unrealistic and unfair.

I already oppose mass college attendance and funding student loans through my taxes (and funding the paying back of the loans that I already funded through my taxes) as it is. I'm not shelling out more money so that these girls can find husbands. Guys need to relearn how to be bold, masculine, and charming. Women need to relearn how to be pursued and charmed.

To preface, I'm not a fan of Charlie Kirk. Sometimes he's right and sometimes he's ridiculous. He says ridiculous things a little more often than I think is reasonable.

But one thing worth mentioning is that while he is suggesting that's why women are attending college (which is an unjust assertion of absolutism), he did not say "women need to." There is a serious difference, there. One is demanding and controlling presumably through governmental intervention, while the other is not.

That being said, I still oppose his assertions. Some women might be going to find their significant other, but plenty are not and I think he and everyone else should be encouraging the freedom to do so even if they feel those people are going down the wrong path. Freedom is critical.

He is kind of right that college is a scam. These days it just means student debt. As for the rest of it, no we don't need to go back to the days when women were pressured to stay at home. They can if they choose to, but they shouldn't feel like women who stay at home are necessarily "better mothers".

15-18 graduate high school and end things with high school boyfriend unless he's got major prospects ie NBA/NFL.

18-20 Go to college. Date loads of guys.

20-22 meet husband and get engaged.

22-24 start career move in with fiance
