Contrary to what Syntosi seems to think, this creates additional legal requirement for France under French law to take all Palestinians should they show up in France. The original legal requirement applied to most Palestinians because the UN uniquely still has them in "refugee" status.

Given the 10/7/23 attacks and other atrocities committed by the Palestinians against Israelis and the fact that no Arab state is willing to take the Gazans due to the Palestinians' propensity for violence, terrorism, and disrupting Arab countries as diverse as Kuwait, Tunisia, and Lebanon, it's completely insane for France, a country not unfamiliar with Islamic terrorism, to put out the welcome mat for any Gazans, much less all of them.

For those who think Israel defending itself against the terror of Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups is an "atrocity", ask yourself what you would do if the Palestinians attacked your town or city like they attacked Israel on 10/7/23.

I mean, its pretty obvious. Its also incredibly handy for France politically since it gives them justifications to pressure Israel and constructs a moral highground to sit upon for the near future.

It is a bit misleading however. France is not setting itself up to receive 2 million people. It is more accurate to say that they have just made it their official stance that Israel is committing atrocities against Gaza.

Simply this yes, and sitting in France, there's nothing surprising in this stance, but maybe it is surprising for countries that don't use asylum policies? I genuinely don't know what other countries treat the concept of asylum at all

@Maybe_Maybe_not It is certainly strange since asylum is established by the UN which most if not all countries has signed up on. It should be their national policy and not to mention that USA as an example was the one who pushed for this in the first place.

I guess it is just an issue of people not understanding politics or being misinformed.
