Anyone else think "The world owes you nothing." sounds abusive?

The bible says you will burn in everlasting fire if you refuse to help others, and not just help them with physical vulnerabilities, but also emotional and spiritual vulnerabilities. Only the devil says you have no obligation to help others. God says he will set you on fire forever and ever if you refuse to help others.

Thinking that the world owes you something sounds like privilege, not hard working, rugged determination.

But that's not an excuse for individuals to lack empathy, be unkind, uncharitable, or look the other way when someone is in need.

Admirable people do help others. They do care about misery and injustice. They try to make the world a better place.

However, self-centered, slackers and free loaders will have a rough time.

The world is a beautiful place and is giving so much… fresh foods, fruits, veggies. I have to go work to get them, cook them.
it doesn’t own me anything… if anything, I own to this world to make it even better. Plan more foods and veggies. If we have more than we need, we share with others.
when that day comes, I hope I have make someone’s life a little better and leave this world a little more beautiful.

If I catch fish, I don’t owe you a fish but it would be kind of me to give you one when you are starving.
You can live your life like an asshole or you can be kind. I think what goes around, comes around. So I choose to be kind.

they do it because they have a purpose in life. It’s fulfilling to do what’s good for ourselves and for others.

@asker I volunteer over 400 hours a year for my community. I am 1 in 23 in our organization. We help the grateful and ungrateful alike. If more people did this the world (that owes you nothing) would be a better place to live.
Try giving back without expecting anything in return. You’ll find it’s a better way to live.

It can be, but it’s also true. The world doesn’t owe us anything, so we have to work for the future that we want or else we will be struck in a place we might not desire to be in. Only we can make a difference for ourselves, no one will step in our shoes to get things done for us.
