There should be a better (more realistic) transitional period, especially for those who married into the place and don't know the language, etc. etc. Adapting isn't as easy as one would think, not just for the new immigrant, but for their first-gen kids, who are constantly trying to juggle ESL issues while also navigating school etc. among folks whose traditions and values are SUPER different.

If people want to come here to live they need to assimilate into our culture. If they want to bring their own culture here and expect Americans to observe their customs they should stay where they are. President Trump had to make it safe to say Merry Christmas again.
