Do you think it’s immoral to have an open coffin funeral for a murder victim?

I heard about President John F. Kennedy that they decided to keep his coffin closed for his funeral because his injuries were deemed too severe.

Most closed coffins happen because the victim is severely destroyed, like JFK getting shot in the head. The one exception I can think of is the very famous Emmet Till, a black man who was brutally murdered and lynched nearly beyond recognition. His family kept his casket open so they could see the damage the white men had done. Unless there’s a call for justice in that way against a massive system, most people will keep their mutilated loved ones’ coffins closed so as not to traumatize anyone

A funeral is for the living. It promotes closure and gives the living a chance to have a last look the the deceased. It is really up to the deceased family to make that decision.
The first funeral I ever went through was 9th grade. On of my classmates crashed his fathers car into a tree, His injuries were extensive but there was an open casket. is head had extensive makeup that made it look twice it's size. It was pretty scary to see.

No. In fact, the open coffin funeral of Emmett Till was critically important in history. His heinous murder in 1955 was critical to advancing the cause of civil rights in the USA.
