There's so much nuance needed that this blanket statement doesn't address.

Sure if you murder someone we should not be tolerant of it and put you in prison.

If you burp loudly in a restaurant, and the social norm is to have better manners than that, should they be kicked out of the restaurant and never let in to any restaurants again? No.

Who's policing this? The real way a society needs to behave is to encourage people to be decent to each other, peacefully remind them when they slip up, because well we're all human, and try to make ourselves better.

If you want people in general to be tolerant of your differing views, then we must be tolerant even when it's difficult for us too.

Otherwise the whole idea of tolerance turns into childish excommunications for infractions that don't fit the severity of the infraction. Basically society is and isn't tolerant at the same time all the time.

Grace is missing from this equation and that is what we all need sometimes.

This sounds good until you go into reality. One side always needs to be a bit more tolerant than the other or it ends in a downspiral.
Real life example are those that are fundamentally against human rights, free speech, and democracy. They dont tolerate our way of live. How far can you reduce the tolerance of them? Can you decide they dont need to live because they would not tolerate our lifes? On the other hand can we tolerate their hatred because its we value free speech?
Not showing 100% tolarence towards thihgs that dont tolerate you is right, but how far can we reduce it before becoming a problem ourselves?
