BUT

I do not condone political violence it's about that simple. This is going to escalate and if this keeps up, we're going to start seeing tit for tat killings and shootings of republicans and democrats. At this rate we're heading for another bleeding Kansas and that's going to be bad for everyone. We have reached a point were speaking your own mind regardless of sides has become a crime.

Under Biden Republicans were censored under Trump now it's the Democrats with the muzzle on. Twitter didn't bring back free speech they just changed who was censored. Now just like has been the pattern since the founding of information sharing from newspapers in black and white ink to the internet today it now continues online.

"Violence is the voice of the unheard" I don't agree with Asmon on everything, pretty much every single stance he has on foreign policy is retarded but this is true. Right now, you have a lot of people on all sides that are feeling silenced, so they are lashing out. This is going to get worse before it gets better.

Look Charlie was an SOB, he was a liar, he was a homophobe, but he was a man not a monster and didn't deserve to die like that. Even if you think Kirk did deserve it what about his wife and 3-year-old daughter that saw it with their own eyes right in front of them as he had his throat slit with a fucking rifle round.

There was fucking blood everywhere! The people I watch who have been reporting on the news of the war in Ukraine have been looking at photos of dead people since the day the war began. They've seen fucking children missing half their head because of a missile shrapnel and even they said it was one of the most gruesome deaths they'd ever seen on camera.

And it's not just Charlie's kids and wife either what about the entire audience that was fucking traumatized seeing that? FFS most of them are going to need therapy. Watching someone die fucks you up for life. I saw one Isis beheading video, and it still plays in my head at night sometimes! Watching someone die in such an awful way is traumatic.

Charlie didn't deserve this, his wife didn't deserve this, his kids didn't deserve this and the people watching him didn't deserve this. Further to all on the left celebrating his death you can stop celebrating now because this has only made him more popular. People know his name now that had never heard of him before this myself included and now, he's a martyr on half of the fucking internet.

By killing him they made him a symbol, and symbols CAN'T be killed. If the shooters job was to shut up Charlie Kirk, then they failed miserably because in death his voice has never been louder. What really pisses me off is there are people saying they should do his wife and kids next! They're 3 and 1 years old for god's sake, they might not even turn into republicans when they get older! People are wanting these kids murdered just because they don't like Charlie and it's sick.

Trumps MAGA is one of the worst and most disgusting movements we've ever seen in this country's history, but you know what MAGA I can get behind. "Make Asylums Great Again" People like this belong in one of two places. The mental ward or prison. Also, before any moron claims freedom of speech, calls to violence are not protected under the first amendment.

If you're saying things like "People should do his wife and kids next." That's not free speech that's a call for violence and it's always been a crime in this country long before any of us were born.

I think some murders are egregious enough to deserve more than life in prison without release. At some level society needs to condemn extreme crimes extremely harshly.

For mass shootings and political assassinations there is a need for extreme excoriating opprobrium rather than "it happens" acceptance. Nothing is more chilling of free speech than the possibility of being killed for your views.

I think it would help if executions were made public again by live streaming them.

Instead of last words, a last interview would be appropriate where the miscreant is forced to reflect on their life. Would add a nice reality TV touch.

We all have different opinions but I have personally always thought life in prison is worse especially if they get zero chance of parole.
Imagining spending 23 hours per day in a room and constantly surrounded by other violent people. Also the thoughts for prisoners who get sentenced to life without parole that you cannot and never will be able to do things like go to the beach, go to a concert, go to a restaurant, go on holiday, go skiing, go fishing and never go shopping again must make a lot of prisoners feel miserable.

Dead people cannot feel emotions.

Only if he thinks all murderers should get it. This wasn't particularly eggregious. It just was some quasi-famous person, though not one I had ever heard of before. It's a bad message to send that his life is any more valuable than thousands of others who were shot just because he spoke publically and had a podcast. Considering all the people I have not heard him call for the death penalty, it comes across as Trump entitlement because it was someone who publically supported him, an even worse message...

I am somewhat oppose to death penalties in general unless the case is truly beyond any doubt and itself a crime against humanity.

Murder can qualify, but this one probably does not.

What concerns me more is the very notion that a president would play favourites and advocate a harsher implementation of the law when it comes to his friends being victims. Add in the frequent parsoning of his other friends, and we have a situation where the law is being ignored.

The whole point of a law is that everyone is subject to it, equally. A president involving himself in a legal case is beyond unprofessional.

He should be given a fair trial and if guilty punished in accordance with state laws as deemed fit by the judge. Trump is too emotionally involved and so should shut up.

If I was in the shooters shoes I'd be arguing I'm not getting a fair trial or sentence because of Trumps interference.

It is better to let people like this drift off into obscurity than to make a big song and dance about it and giving them a death sentence as well as openly advocating for it is just drawing more attention.

Utah has already indicated the death penalty will be on the table when the shooter is tried in Utah state court. This is one situation where the feds should let the state handle it, which seems to be happening. AG Pam Bonfi hasn't said much about a federal prosecution.

And let's remember. If the shooter is found guilty, the jury will decide between execution and prison.
