Is it likely a serial rapist or violent man's first abuser was a woman?

I would like to think they were once innocent toddlers and children. So if he grews up and ends up either being a serial rapist or a controling, abusive boyfriend or husband... is it likely their first abuser (in their early years, when they were defenseless and couldn't fight as a kid against an adult woman) was a woman?

What you think makes them become like that? What do you think it's the origin?

for some of these dudes, sexual or physical abuse by a woman in childhood can cause those kinds of behaviors (it's documented). in some men it can either make them misogynists or believe what they experienced is normal which enables them to that to others. but usually that's no what causes those types of behaviors. for serial textbook rapists of adults, at least in western societies where women have equal rights, most of them have antisocial personality disorder (aka sociopathy or psychopathy) and are motivated by sexual sadism and rape fetichism. they're not satisfied with roleplay and fantasy, they want the real thing. they're that way because of their personality disorder (some are born that way, some get it from adverse experiences in childhood which can be abuse, but often that's not from women) and having developped in their teen years a taste for sadistic sex.

for dv and just general bad behavior, it's more complex. dv is sadly in some part evolutionary (it's part of "mate guarding" aka anti cuckoldry measures) but it's kept much more at bay in western societies compared to other parts of the world. the people here who do it are often jealous men who are very afraid of their partner leaving them or cheating on them, who come from a more traditional family where this type of stuff is more common and normalized. then you have the men who are more twisted who often have antisocial personality disorder (about 10% of the population have some form of it) or hardcore misogynists, and use dv and abuse to get the women to obey him and do what he wants, and they get some dark satisfaction from the power it gives them. this is much less common nowadays then a couple decades ago. for men who dont physically abuse but are very controlling, it's just that they're jealous and are also doing 'mate guarding' but a less violent version. it can be normal in their culture or family as well.

The cycle of abuse is a real one, but it’s far more likely for the abusive figure to be the father than the mother based on nothing but statistics.

Mothers are much more likely to abuse and murder their own children. That’s a statistical fact. Fathers can also be abusive, but a father’s absence tends to be a leading cause of antisocial behavior in boys and young men, and overly needy girls and young women.
Abused children tend to grow up to be abusive adults. Neglected children tend to grow up to become disaffected adults.
It’s also important to remember that psychology is a soft science. The Menendez brothers came from an affluent family with no documentable signs of abuse or neglect and they became psychopathic killers.
Dave Pelzer suffered some of the worst mental and emotional abuse you could imagine. He eventually became a healthy and productive member of society.

I don't think so. For example, my mother spent my entire childhood beating me, I was in and out of the hospital all the time. My dad sexually abused me.. Neither of those turned me into a rapist.

Rapists don't do it because they were abused, they do it because they want to have power over someone who they perceive as weaker than them. These are the same kinds of people who would abuse animals as children. Something inside them is broken, and are best executed for the crime.

Interesting question but I would think the abusers gender would not be easily predicted as rape is about power and the future rapist likely felt powerless at the hands of either gender.
