How (what method) do you VOTE in ELECTIONS?

Today, Tuesday, 4 November 2025, is election day in the United States.

It's an off-year, with no major national elections, but there are several important local and state elections in various parts of the country.

Whether you voted in this election or not, this question wants to know how you usually vote. What method do you use?

Oregon has vote by mail. The ballot is placed in an envelope which is then placed inside another envelope which you have to sign. When the ballot is received by the polling place, my signature is compared to my signature that is recorded by the state. If it matches, that envelope is opened and the inner envelope is stored till election day. On election day the inner envelope is opened and my ballot is placed with the others. At some time they begin counting the ballots. All the ballots are counted by the time the polls close and the results are almost immediate. While in the Navy, gone from my state, I used absentee ballots, which is the same process

@Red_Arrow I'm not sure I would trust that system as being secure. In today's world, it's easy to fake a signature. You can do it electronically, don't even need to use auto-pen. All one needs is a sample of your signature, which is not that difficult to get.

Out of curiosity, what does Oregon do if it gets two ballots from the same person with valid signatures? Does it even detect that?

I vote blue no matter who, and I vote 634 times with all the dead people IDs they give me. It's tough work, but I get my ass back in the voting booth and I trick those people all 634 times, somehow I'm the same person on all those different IDs. Imagine that.

Absentee. It's most convenient for me, since I work all day. I wouldn't make it to the polls in time after work.

I vote by mail. Here, in California where I live, every registered voter gets a voter by mail ballot and about 80% of us use them.

Nobody except right-wing lunatics is are worried about voting fraud because in our elections, which are carefully conducted, we have never had any.

@msc545 Who trusts the USPS to deliver mail on time and to the right place? And what happens when one address gets 10 ballots but only 2 people live there?

Actually, here they do it fairly well. Also - if you mail your ballot or submit it in any other way, in about 4 days you get an email from the Registrar of Voters saying it was accepted.

@msc545 I can't believe election officials trust the mail. A friend in Cupertino sent me an envelope with tracking enabled. It took 5 days to go the 40 miles from Cupertino to San Francisco, another 10 days to cross the country to the Southeast distribution center 10 miles from my home, and another 6 days to deliver it to me.

@msc545 How do you know if your vote was properly counted and recorded? Do you get another email confirming that? And what if a person doesn't have an email address?

The registrar of voters attests to these things. What did you want me to do, hand the ballot to the person that is actually running?

Despite what Trump has told you, we do NOT HAVE election fraud in the US and never have. Get over the fact that your unpopular candidates and policies lose - like they just did again yesterday.

Not American to be clear. Elections are fun.

It is an ideal time for community groups to do fund raisers with the men running sausage sizzles and the women selling cakes/muffins they've baked. So it becomes a compulsory street party.

It builds community spirit because you get to say hello & chat to people you haven't met for a while and meet new people in your local area.

I used to vote in person on election day but in the last election Dan Bongino said that we should vote early if we could. It would throw off the democrats because they will have a hard time estimating how many fake ballots they need so i voted early.

My polling place is a 15 minute walk from my front door. I vote in person. Sometimes early. Usually on election day. The whole round trip including voting takes about 45 min.

I voted illeagaly several times all day during election day. Im a Russian. They dont even check ID or registration. You just walk up to the machine and vote Republican. Its crazy.

I get my voting info from "WeBelieveWeVote" and/or "I Voter Guide", in order to attempt to vote for the best candidates. In my state we are forced to vote by mail, and we drop off our ballots in the nearest Drop Box.
