Like most answers should, start, "in my country" the way elections are designed, it's preferential voting on a ballot numbering all boxes and or there's another Senate paper or Upper House paper that's similar.
In a nutshell man, I've changed over the years or voted in a manner that some would picking candidates or picking parties almost randomly or in different preference at different elections and ultimately - I'm mostly a Leftie, since my mid to late 20s, a socialist leftie monarchist - because I do like to keep Australia a monarchist country even if it's considered a crowned republic or "ceremonial figurehead" 😃
Hooray for King and Country ππππ
I am a former Trump supporter and I vote on Country Lines. The country matters and the people running for the office for this country should be the better of two evils. The best choice in this particular election is Kamala Harris & Tim Walz for President and Vice President. Iβve made evaluation of Democratic & Republican candidates though they come from my home state and donβt want to disclose that information.
No, I vote for the ideas and policies.

I am politically conservative, so I vote for conservative candidates, and that usually means voting for Republicans. But I have voted for Democrat candidates for national and state offices when I thought that the Republican was either unqualified or tarnished in some way.
I'm not too taken aback older ππ
WYSIWYG!
I did two years ago, and probably will again next month. Four years ago I voted for a libertarian at the state level because the republican he was up against was a wolf in sheep's clothing.
I don't think I've had a single Democrat on my ballot who wasn't either an insane person or an open communist, which is unfortunate because it is letting the Republicans get away with mediocre candidates who don't have to take their positions seriously, and many of the state level ones have pretty abysmal records of doing the absolute bare minimum to feign conservatism. It also doesn't help that one of our senators (John Cornyn) is basically the heir apparent to McConnell for running the Senate Republicans, and is therefore untouchable in the primaries, while also clearly in bed enough with the Democrats that they never put up a serious challenge to him either.
In decades long past, when severe political polarization wasn't as horrible as it is these days, I'd be as likely to vote for one side of our mainly two-party system as the other.
Unfortunately, it was inevitable that a two-party system came to be.
The founding fathers were wise enough to be aware of its coming to be but were unable to come up with a way of preventing it from happening without altering much more important rights and issues.
These days, yes, I do tend to vote the party line, not as a rule per se, but as a result of clear evidence that the side which I no longer vote for lost their minds quite some time ago.
Interest in politics is an act of desperation and futility or its a morbid sociopathic fascination with death and delusions of power.
Hereβs the 1st round draft picks

I vote for the candidate whose views most closely align with mine, so that's usually libertarian.
I live in a red state so voting democrat for a state wide office is an act of futility, and my congressional district is red as well, so sometimes if there's no LP party member, I'll vote democrat just because I know my one vote won't matter, so I try to keep the winner humble!
Can't. I'm Libertarian, and besides the fact that my party often nominates literal dunderheads, California is a "Top-Two" state so in all partisan races except POTUS the choices are almost always Democrat vs. Republican, or in some races two Democrats or two Republicans against each other. I rarely find even one acceptable candidate so I usually limit my votes to initiatives and propositions.
I'm not opposed to splitting the ticket, but I haven't found any Republicans I'm willing to vote for in a long time. Maybe after Trump, we'll see what happens.
Even Sarah or Jeb, ? They were pretty sassy ππ π₯³π
Even Mitt seemed cool enough of 2012 π ππ and I ain't a Yank
Christie I liked also - I always knew where he stood ππ cause he's, a big voice βπ»π
@263color so who does 263color want for the Republican ticket nominee for 2028 or 2032 even? No debate, just happily chatting like two strangers merrily do on good terms and good vibes and no rudeness :) humbly π€ Aussie here by the way for disclosure lol π
So you're go to guy or go to woman candidate for 2028 is or 2032 is? Wide eyes waiting πππ
@263color so you don't care who's the Republican nominee in any future conventions and y'all just like whoever is picked? Basically? If I may say so assume.
Hears crickets π₯ π¦π lol
@paledreams if the Republicans change policies I may very well vote for one. The problem is not the name of the party. The problem is the failed policies. Trickle down economics, any choice, anti immigrant, racist, sexist. We can't legislate our way back to 1954, and I don't think I'd want to if we could.
So you're a Democrat man? π π
Within politeness of course if I may be please, what's your view of the current President Biden not running for a second term and the VP getting the nomination? Woohoo Kamala ππ€
@263color I must be then one of the few people in this Earth, I guess who actually didn't mind and actually wanted Joe Biden to run for a second term, after my other fave missed out that lady who was running the woman associated with Oprah, anyways - ah well, the rest is history, and so hopefully we'll all be singing cheerful for the win of VP Harris and my autocorrect almost spelt BP Harris lol like British Petroleum my fave brand of fuel aka BP lol anyways hooray for VP Kamala Harris, such a nice enough lady to lead the free world to lead America the Ally of most western nations like Australia anyways blah blah blah time to drink my coffee frappe and then wash dishes :) mmm π has been a long day of work merrily. π₯³
I put Country over party any day. This time it is easy because I do not want to go back to the Trump years with a pessimistic old man
I usually vote for who I feel is best. Unless neither is good, then I vote for the lesser of two evils.
Historically B Now C Because Democrats now are demon possessed.
I try to vote for the best person for the job no matter what party they're in.
BEST CANDIDATE for each office, Party is not important.
I've given up voting by 'party', I vote purely for which ever candidate will do the best for my local area.
So I take it as Democrat? πππ
@paledreams No I'm not a democrat, I live in the UK, Over here at the moment there is absolutely no difference between the two main political parties, so I vote for Independents instead.
The two party system in the United States is a huge problem. Vote for the best candidate.
I used to vote for the candidate. But, not anymore! Straight party politics for now!
My first election I didn't. Going forward I likely will.
I've never voted before...
voting to align with any modern party would be the last thing I'd do... politically speaking, lol
I do what I think is right.
Nope
