The only reason the government is shut down is because Democrats are insisting on free taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants.

If you bothered studying anything in school, you would know it's Congress that has the power to shut down the government, not the president. That's a fact, under U. S. law, it's not some wild allegation that can go in any direction you want.

Trump has tried to provide emergency funding for food stamps, but there is no legal process for him to do so; only Congress controls funding.

Schumer and Democrats can open the government at any time, but they won't. They are using the government closure and food stamps and shutting down air travel as leverage against American citizens to force Trump to take political actions (political actions that are illegal) that have nothing to do with the shutdown.

They can give funding to food stamps whether they open the government or not, but they won't.

They can pass a continuing resolution that would open the government while they are negotiating, which is the normal procedure in these situations, but they won't.

The only argument Democrats have is, we hate Trump, so it's Trump's fault. They can't cite a single legal reason for why it's his fault.
