According to social media and various new reports, Mamdani is being criticized for having a cash bar, because:
1. Typically, a candidate's campaign funds pay for an open bar at the celebration
2. Mamdani's campaign emphasized how things would be cheaper (rent, groceries) or free (buses)
Before he takes office, he is letting the people of NYC know that they are going to have to pay, which follows on to his asking people of NYC for donations to fund his transition team the day after the election.

Nevertheless, yeah I can see why people are pissed. I don’t drink however if I did that would suck especially given the whole affordability campaign promise. Technically still need to wait until January to see him replace current NYC Mayor Eric Adams.

Everyone is keeping an eye on NYC, so we’ll just have to wait and see how things in terms of policy go. Although I will point out, the media declared this “Communist” was dangerous to American way of life and all I’ve seen was “Overpriced beer? Are you kidding me?” and “He’s a Jihadist and wants death to Jews, even though he has never said those things and only denounced it in a serious tone voice”.

Like, I wish Mamdani’s team success because when your leader does well, everything does well.

I guarantee he didn’t pay for them and neither did his cronies. Same goes for their victory lap getaway. Almost certainly all funded by taxpayers.

Not starting an argument, but I don't understand how he hates America? Do you really believe 13 dollars for a drink is abnormal in NYC? It's more than that for most cocktails 10 years ago. Jokes aside, I actually think it's ok to not agree with his policies but at least he's trying to do something to help all New Yorkers and not just the top 1%. If his ideas don't work they don't crush the city. They just don't work. Rich people are scared which for some reason is more important than the other 99% of people trying to afford food.

Regarding your update. Seriously no one has to go out drinking. It's not necessary. You would rather campaign money go to alcohol? I feel like this is a nothing burger.
