It depends. What people or person?

I don't care about people in general because the 95% of the general population are people I don't want to surround myself with. I refuse to waste my time and life on people who don't matter. So I'm very selective about who I surround my self with.

It's not even that I don't need people to like me. I will actively do things to make people go away if I don't want them around. Having tons of "friends" I'm not really attached to is just more clutter in my life that I don't need. I'm actually happy that a lot of people don't cling to me.

With that said, IF I do care about you, you've made it past all my boundaries. Once that happens, I'm there 24X7 if you need me and I absolutely care about the small circle of friends I curate. Because those people share my values and ethics and thinking. They aren't easy to find. And they add value to my life.

Only in a largely utilitarian sense.
Like I don’t care what a stranger things of me if I’m never gonna interact with them again.

When it comes to love ones, it depends on the relationship, parent, siblings and other relatives get the obligatory “I’m stuck with you so I love you”
Friends get “you earned my respect and as long as you have it I’ll listen to whatever you say as long as you listen to me as well.”
A really close romantic partner however gets the grand privilege of “I will actually alter my behavior even you don’t ask or are not around”

It depends who it is.
Do I care what some mentally ill homeless person with a lengthy criminal record thinks of me? No, because I am much more successful than them.
Do I care what my boyfriend and his family think about me? Yes
Do I care what my future possible employers think about me? Yes
Do I care about what my own family thinks about me? Yes

I used to. To the point where I would put on makeup to go to the grocery store just in case I ran into someone I knew, or someone cute ;)

Now, I dont care nearly as much. I actually went to the store the other day just to grab milk, and I wore and oversized sweater, sweatpants, my hair was messy and tied up, and I wore my 20 year old dirty crocs.

I mean I'm not an a$$hole. But unless you're part of my circle, unless you're someone I love and or deeply respect. Then it's not necessary that you think highly of me. But as I said, I'm not an a$$hole I TRY to treat everyone with a modicum of respect.

So the way I view this question, no I don't care what (people I don't know) think of me.

Not usually but there are some things I'd prefer to do, that I don't because I know how SOME people are fucking ASSHOLES and would rather just hurt or kill you than ask questions and get to know you, first.
