This is something I can’t for the life of me relate to. I do have some fears, but judgement certainly isn’t one of them. I will say literally anything to anyone
Only people who are living in a bubble of self deception fear constructive criticism or in other words justified judgment. Of course judgment of others is used often as manipulative gaslighting strategy but lot of people aren't malicious and are often honest, that's why their judgment is justified.
I think this judgment of others can be a useful tool if an individual is capable to sort out when a judgment is BS and when it's meant as constructive criticism. However lot of people are too absorbed with themselves to observe others in the way the recognize what judgment is malicious and manipulative and which one is honest.
It's the same reason people argue irrationally over trans issues and why talking about sexism and race is so explosive.
People feel extremely uncomfortable with knowledgeing what they or others precieve as flaws. It lowers your status, hurts your possibilities, introduces doubt etc.
And it demands change which is hard. It demands you to take a look at yourself, be harsh, acknowledge things you don't want to and think about them until a better solution than what you're using now is devised.
That process can quickly make you question everything. Lose relationships, or your perception of them.
Confident people usually run towards judgement and become rock solid people for it. A great example would be an athlete or Caitlin Jenner or Kanye West... Maybe not Kanye... Alright how about Jorge masvidal fighting kamaru us an.
Judgement is not easy to live with if you don't have a strong sense of self
" I will say literally anything to anyone " - We on GAG realize that you wear this like a badge, but it's not quite the flex you imagine it to be. What it really indicates is a lack of perspicacity, discernment, prudence and often common-sense. There's no correlation between doing that and being wise either.
Speaking without a filter doesn't necessarily make someone brave, but it almost always makes them sound either ignorant at best or intentionally rude.
I respectfully disagree
About what? Which part? Present your case.
What case? Lol. I don’t just don’t share the same opinion. I don’t think speaking without a filter makes someone ignorant.
What I actually SAID is: " it almost always makes them SOUND either ignorant at best or intentionally rude." That's what I said... not that you ARE ignorant because you're filter-less, but you almost always SOUND ignorant. Get the distinction?
Yes. Very small and insignificant distinction. Are ignorant vs seem ignorant. Eh. If you are saying that someone SEEMS to be offended, you are basically saying that they ARE offended.
Transposing the comparison to make it fit your narrative is an apples to oranges event. It's not insignificant at ALL, only in your mind. "Appearing" to be a fool and actually being one, are two very different things.
Anyone can "sound" ignorant on a given subject if they choose to speak on it and have no knowledge of it. That doesn't make you an overall ignorant person, it just makes you sound stupid on that subject If you did that on EVERY subject, then yes, you would be totally ignorant.
My point remains: unfiltered speech doesn't mean you're brave. It certainly doesn't mean you're thoughtful or perspicacious, and as I said and will maintain, it tends to make you sound like a fool and not a champion of honest or direct thought. It's the difference between a reaction and a response. Indeed, you're proving my point.
Yes, I got your message. And as I stated earlier, I don’t agree with it. The purpose of the post was not to sound tough. I’m genuinely curious why this is such a common fear. I never at any time hesitate to say something on my mind because I am worried about how someone will respond/ what someone will think of me. However, I know with certainty that there are many people out there who are like this
@loveslongnails by the way, it’s cute you’re trying to impress me with your vocabulary. You can just say “smart”, or “knowledgeable.” You don’t have to say “perspicacious.” LMFAO
I think it's sad that you want to dumb down what's said to you be don't have the where with all to look up what you don't know, if indeed you didn't know it. I chose that word because it says "precisely" what I mean, and wanted to say. "Smart" doesn't fit, and "knowledgeable" isn't even close in this context.
Interesting that you mention it to try and make ME look pompous though, when you're the one reacting to my precision in conversation. I didn't realize I had to dumb things down for the sake of this point and only approximate what I mean, in order to accommodate you? That said, it's indicative of the American psyche over the last 20 years and further exacerbated when Trump is in office. Wait... was "exacerbated" too impressive sounding? Would you prefer "made worse"? How about "aggravated"? Are they better for you?
typo* - because you don't...
I dont fear judgement from anyone. Only God is the judge of me most days im sure he shakes his head wondering where he went wrong. Lol but still.
