I mean, sure, a lot of people are forced to work, that’s a separate issue.

But think about someone whose parents are still alive. If you don’t work, you have the whole 24 hours to yourself; you’re resting, and a plate of food is the only thing you really need.

But when you do work, you almost end up in debt. You can’t even rent a place, you can’t build a life or any kind of order for yourself. On top of that, you’re left having trampled on your dignity and pride for this and that. You fight with disgusting bosses, managers, and customers and end up losing your sanity. Oh, if only all the slaves rose up today… if they tore down this disgusting system.

Which assumes that 1) your parents will *tolerate* that (news flash - the WON'T for long), and 2) even if they do, hey, one day they are going to die, and 3) I wouldn't assume a great inheritance from them when #2 happens either.

The point is, you HAVE to work.

Do you really think all but a handful of your parents enjoyed THEIR jobs? No, they did what they had to do, partly in order to raise YOU. So show some gratitude for that, Step 1 right there.

So what else to do?

2. Shelter as much income as you can. Use the Internal Revenue Code to your advantage. Tax free and tax deferred savings accounts exist for a reason.

3. Play the long game. It is NEVER too early to start a tax-free or tax deferred savings account. Even if only able to put a small amount of dollars a week or month into it. The power of compounding over time is tremendous. You can even borrow from it without penalty in certain circumstances, like college or trade school.

4. if you are "InCel" or somehow unable to attract a mate, well, that is just *that much more money* to save and shelter.

5. Don't plan for wasting your life - plan for earlier retirement. The latter is far more realistic.

I know people that do not work and have some kind of SSI scam going. I collected unemployment during Covid and i have to admit it was pretty sweet. i was one of the people that you read about that actually made out better collecting unemployment than having to work every day. As an added bonus I got a lot of home improvement projects done.
If i could have kept the gravy train going I would have never gone back to work but alas all good things come to an end

1) Get some gumption, learn a skill, work and support yourself.

3) Live under a bridge and go hungry.

Yeah, not working is a great idea if you have a way to pay for your food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities. It seems to me that you don't.
