What do you image the middle class spend their money on?
1. Groceries. Most food in America is made in America, thus doesn't have a tariff.
2. Transportation. Fuel prices have declined. Auto parts are relatively stable after a spike from 2020-2022 under Biden. Most vehicles sold in America are at least assembled in America thus no tariff on end product. New automobile price rose under Biden. Auto manufactures are working on building significantly more parts factories in the USA at the moment to avoid tariffs.
3. Housing: Housing prices fell for the first time in 2 years this fall after significant inflation under Biden. Lumber and steel prices are down which has caused some building materials to decline in price, but insurance prices are up and labor prices are up for new housing.
4. Healthcare. Trump negotiated Favored-Nation Pricing to American on pharmaceuticals which has dropped the price of healthcare. Currently pharmaceutical & medical supply companies are building factories in the USA to avoid tariffs.
4. Insurance: That's generally up, but isn't affected by tariffs.
5. education: No tariff.
6. entertainment: A lot of entertainment activities are unaffected by tariffs. Certain processions used in entertainment actives like electronics or kid's toys have seen inflation.
The majority of a middle class expenses have been reduced over the past year. Not significantly, but they have tended downward. Some items have still continued to see inflation and part of that is due to tariffs, but in general Americans have more purchasing power this year than they have for the past 4 years. Wages have also continued to trend upward, though not enough to keep pace with Biden era inflation.
Say good bye to your electric cars, solar panels, and tracking devices... Your planned future of control under the guise of global warming with big brother monitoring everything just became highly unaffordable. No future for you. You bet on the wrong team.

NAR data is reported by places like Zillow for non-realtors/brokers. It's the first year in 6 years where the majority of houses have declined in value. 53% of housing has lost value. Housing prices are trending down as are rents.

According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics year over year gasoline prices are down across the entire country with the exception of the west coast who artificially inflated the price through new taxation bills to phase out gasoline and move toward electric car. They punish their own citizens while the rest of the country prospers.
West Coast: $4.12 (up 5.4%)
Central Atlantic: $3.10 (down 0.7%)
New England: $2.97 (down 0.9%)
Rocky Mountain: $2.92 (down 2.1%)
Midwest: $2.88 (down 0.4%)
Lower Atlantic: $2.83 (down 3.1%)
Gulf Coast: $2.59 (down 1.5%)

LMAO.. AS IF you could trust ANYTHING coming out the White House. But unwittingly, his comment is true.
* "Totally unheard of 4.3% GDP" ... because it isn't 4.3% We'll never know what it is really is
* "No inflation"... well, not if you're the President, who doesn't pay for anything or know the cost of anything
* Respected as a country again * -- Yes, Myanmar and South Sudan sent Christmas cards and notes of praise. Venezuela, Greenland, Canada, and virtually the remainder of countries on Planet Earth, not so much.
On the day they released GDP at 4.3%, the markets didn't move and more stocks went down that day than went up. On the day they announce CPI was 2.7% and lower than expected, the same thing happened. The market makers don't believe Trumps data. Private data has diverged quite significantly under Trump than under Biden and investors aren't buying it.
I would bet all my money that the "revised" numbers they release next month are much different. This has been going on for at least the last 20 years but it's never been more obvious as it was this month.
It is killing America. More jobs in manufacturing have been lost than gained. My area businesses going under. Look at all the layoffs across the US. Look at all the bankruptcies. Look at the Price of Gold now. Look at he National Debt. This country is collapsing. This is what happened prior to the Great Depression and all the descendents supporters of Trump denied the truth then like Trump supporters do now.
Tariffs are mostly paid for by foreign countries and companies. The big beautiful bill gives tax payers the biggest tax cut in history.
Name one example where a foreign country or company paid *your* idiotic tariffs. What reason would they even have?
@DryGermanGuy It is simple- if the product costs as much as a better made American product, nobody will buy it. The foreign vendor has to lower their price or else the store has to lower their price but will probably start buying American which is what Trump is trying to accomplish.
Stop being delusional. In pretty much all cases there are no better made American products, in most cases there even are no American products at all. Your globalization drive escalating under Reagan made that possible. That ship has sailed 40 years ago.
A successful tariff strategy gets implemented over ten+ years, longer for complex products and it would look nothing like these erratic and arbitrary Trump idiocies right now.
@DryGermanGuy if the tariffs are being paid for by American consumers then why is inflation remained a low 2.5%? To hear the democrats talk, everything is going up even worse than when Biden was president.
When President Trump first imposed tariffs on China , WalMart said it would include the added tariff on the price tag and just pass it on to the consumer. Target said it would not raise prices on anything.. A few days after they made that announcement WalMart changed their policy to copy Target. Both retail chains are also advertising more Made In USA products. Either they are absorbing the tariffs or else they have enough clout to make the foreign supplier absorb it. Either way, inflation remains low.
The last official number was 2,7% and is from three months ago, so we have to wait for a current number.
Also, obviously the inflation pressure by tariffs is unevenly spread over all goods, depending how much parts or prefabrication have been from foreign countries.
@DryGermanGuy Yes, and the goods made in USA are without tariffs. I guess I have been ahead of the curve my whole life.
For most items that fled overseas there are no longer even the production infrastructures available, not to mention the price hikes this would trigger. To have them returned with a successful tariffs strategy needs industrial specialists and time, both what Trump doesn’t have.
@DryGermanGuy Yes, and Hillery said the coal industry was dead. President Trump showed that is not the case. American companies like John Deere that were considering moving to Mexico have reconsidered and there are many foreign countries that are building factories here. Trillions are being invested in the US and manufacturing jobs will be coming back. They will be more advanced than the old factories from the WW2 era but they will be jobs where people can earn a living wage.
Now the big crisis is how does America generate the amount of electricity required to power all these new facilities? The upgrades to our power grid will create even more jobs.
So, propping up the ancient coal industry makes sense to you? Why not go back to the horse and carriage industry, while he’s at it?
@DryGermanGuy The technology is more efficient that solar panels or windmills and deliver electricity in a less expansive, more dependable way.
What are the new technologies that will reduce pollution to the extent that coal-fired plants do not produce poisons anymore? By poisons, I don't just mean poisons to humans but also poisons to animals, plants, and to the environment in general. Please list the actual working technologies that will accomplish these goals, not just the ones that are being proposed or suggested.
@msc545 The coal tht is mined in the US burns cleaner naturally and the new technologies make it an even cleaner choice for generating electricity. certainly better that giant wind farms that create health hazards for not only people but for both land and sea animals. Or solar panels that have a finite life and have ot be disposed of somehow.
Yes, well, according to Trump, everything he does is wonderful, and everything Obama did was terrible. So, what do you expect?
Obama wouldn't because he's extremely intelligent.
Imagine not knowing what a tariff is as if you haven't heard of it since your US history class.
imagine if everybody cared as much as you do
The government is richer. That’s pretty much it
Okay, and then what do I do?
Oh!! Is this ANOTHER CNN TWIST of "logic" that you fell for?
You actually think they're not?
Obviously they are not.
