It depends, a lot of Japanese people act the way they are due to culture. For example, cars from the US vs. Japan vs. China vs. Germany. We all get the same steel, same aluminum, same raw materials to build engines, same raw rubber to build hoses. But the Japanese will typically focus on things like comfort and reliability, whereas the Germans will focus on things like cutting edge tech, features, and performance. The US builds great trucks that are workhorses and can punch above their weight.
Are any of these more innovative? in my opinion, they are more reflections on their culture and priorities vs. true innovation. Chinese cars may look a lot like others, but they have to spend time doing at least some engineering. They can’t copy it all, even if they are known for that. Their culture prioritizes using others’ intellectual property for their gain. Japanese TVs used to be class leading, but now the Koreans have closed the gap. So in a nutshell, no, I don’t think Japanese are more innovative they just think and work differently.
