So much for DEI, right? Instead of abusing the race card, shoving rainbow people crap in our faces, and the hostility towards white men for their so-called "privilege", there were groups of people who were actually suffering: those on the Autistic Spectrum and those with mental illness.

The kicker? Many of these people possess exceptional strengths that employers fail to recognize, because these strengths (like attention to detail or a fixation/expertise in certain areas) are often overlooked just because of a lack of soft skills.

Over 80 percent of those on the Autistic Spectrum are unemployed or grossly underemployed.

Those with bipolar disorder experience between a 40% to 60% unemployment rate.

So instead of the outrage over illegal aliens from broken nations and putting completely unqualified people into positions because they are black, why not consider the talents of people who are either on the Autistic Spectrum or have a mental illness? The left is loony and have lost touch with reality a long time ago.

I point this out because I have an Austistic Spectrum Disorder and have severe mental illness. I have held 25 jobs in a span of 15 years and I now collect disability checks. It is a damn shame because I possess so many talents and multifaceted.

Autistic people are absolutely underutilized as they tend to not only excel but are frequently best at whatever job they actually end up comfortable with.

That said you've got a screw loose trying to make this a certain political side's issue.

Autism has only recently swapped meaning in the last two decades or so.
We are very much still learning how to cope with it.

People with autism are often too moral and honestly, too good, to properly fit into society. Taking issue with helping people for money is common for example just to name one issue.

But look. If you feel forced to try and make autism political at least do it fairly. Neither side, and also pretty much no country, has figured out how to best adapt work to autistic people. Which again, is a big loss in productivity because autistic people as a rule are basically perfect workers once comfortable. Heck, one of their core problems is being too focused on doing well.

I am mostly certainly political, as I have been in communication directly with state legislators. There have been some bills introduced and making progress because I have brought awareness to them. They pertain to fire and emergency services. I have aggregated figures, appeared on the news to discuss them, and a news outlet is covering another story I brought to their attention.

The key is, despite being unemployed, is to never stop being productive somehow. Productivity doesn't entail rioting, looting, and blowing whistles in a mob. Being proactive in finding solutions is a better approach.

In Long Island, NY, fire officials are sounding the alarm on a historical shortage of firefighters there.

Ordinary Americans are still continuing to struggle, as younger generations are unable to afford homes, the fertility rate is dropping, mass layoffs ensue everywhere, the job market appears more bleak, and the costs of essentials like groceries and healthcare services are skyrocketing.

As leftist agitators continue to riot and protest over illegal aliens, life for everyday Americans continue in a downwards spiral. Meanwhile, the elite continues to thrive and the income gap continues to widen. The middle class, the beacon of prosperity and advancement, is dying. The rungs in the ladder of success continues to dissolve.

I'm one of those who is underemployed. I have a lot of knowledge on things, and I'm stuck in a (virtually) dead-end job. I feel that the current recruitment system of interviews is discriminatory and needs to be replaced with a skills assessment. Even if you're changing career, or just starting out, there are better options than an interview.

Last paragraph? How so? I collect disability checks now because of the employment instability. I am not willing to forfeit my only guaranteed health insurance (Medicare) just so that employers and colleagues can throw me under the bus and I become unemployed and uninsured.

There is that saying: the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. This can apply to my employment situation. After being fired so many times, why risk it again and potentially lose my Medicare and disability? Social Security already tried to take away my disability after so many failed work attempts. I am just going to remain on disability because I don't want to risk being uninsured.

Which argues my point, take the reasons you've been fired and fix them. People get fired because of what they do, or don't do, and when their behaviors adversely impacts other employees or customers. Figure it out and fix it. You can't ride the government gravy train forever.

There isn't one single reason to narrow it down to. My last employer stressed my lack of soft skills and I wasn't "asking the right questions". The reasons for being fired are often very obscure or vague.

Me? Personally? I am surviving fairly well. I receive $1800 a month in benefits and Medicare. It is a shame that I have to rely on handouts when I am highly skilled. Some neourodivergent people are not as lucky, sadly.

I wouldn't doubt it. Mental health services are much more difficult to access than regular health services, which you know is bad because our general healthcare services suck. Most therapists I encounter, at least good ones, do not take health insurance. I tried to help get my wife diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder too, and the neuropsychologist was wanting to charge over $2000 and wouldn't accept health insurance! This hurts people with mental illness or even people who are neurodivergent more because they are the ones often facing employment instability and financial issues.

Then, to make our blood boil more, an Autistic 20 year old died in jail custody after being taken in following a complaint about his Tourettes noises. He had a long outstanding warrant for a "domestic dispute" with his brother, and the cops took him into custody. That never made national news, and only one local news outlet covered the story. Meanwhile, thugs like Floyd who died in police custody gets rage, riots, and national coverage for a year.
