Okay how do I say this, my dad is unintentionally... supportive of few MAGA thoughts.

He hates trump, okay, he hates like half of the world leaders in this world. I swear he wakes up and instead of good morning he say "Trump my foot, Modi my foot".

Today morning we were talking about time management and he was saying how busy Bill Gates' life is, so busy that he only eats from McDonald's drive through.

I said, "Not busy enough to go for a vacay in island though"

And my dad went on about how not everyone who was on island was involved which I agree with but Bill Gates was definitely not one of them. He gave his wife STD and there are photo evidences too. But my dad outright denied them.

And to be honest, he has been looking up to Bill Gates and Warren Buffet and Elon Musk (who is innocent against his will) and all the elites like them forever. He doesn't know shit about their personal life but their work ethics and their story of reaching the top 1 percent. Because that's what his algorithm shows. If someone sees one thing for like half of their lives and then you give them something completely opposite to their beliefs then obviously they will not accept that belief because truth hurts.

I don't blame my dad, but he is unaware and unintentionally looking up at demons. And I kind of don't want to break his delusions because stories of few of these people were the reason why my dad got the motivation to come out of poverty and lead a good life.

In a similar way he disagrees with abortion rights. I don't have the heart to tell him that there are teens who are pregnant as a result of Sexual assault who desperately need abortion rights. Because ignorance is a bliss.

If someone is coming off as mildly MAGA because of ignorance in similar ways to my dad then I think I can be acquaintance with them but if someone is knowingly being ignorant and supports those acts of crimes then I am outright against them.

We dont have maga here. We have afd which are just german nazis. Well their voters at least support nazis. I couldnt be friends with them. Mainly because of their lack of empathy and common sense. Irrelevant of their voting behavior this would be a no go already.

It depends. People are like little kids. If you don't agree with them a 100 percent on something it is like: Goodbye friend. There are some things that MAGA stands for that I agree with. However, there attitude seems to be "I'm right and you are wrong" very black and white about everything. I think it comes from all the NAR that is mixed with it. NAR has this weird theology that Christians are supposed to bring heaven down to earth. Therefor we need to make the World as Christian as we can. That is not how Christianity used to work. It used to be, tell people about Jesus so that they have the opportunity to get forgiveness and freedom from their sins, and go to heaven when they die. NAR flips this whole thing around, and has a dominion approach. I think that is why people hate MAGA so much. It seeks to take complete control over things, so that they can make America Great Again. Jesus said in the scriptures, "My kingdom is not of this world."

From my end of things, I don't have a problem being friendly to people that I don't agree with. Where the issue for me is, what do we have in common to build our friendship on?

Sure, I am friends with at least one on this site alone. We don't always have to agree with everything the other says, to do that would be living in an echo chamber and would forever lock us into battle lines against one another. What we can be do is be civil to one another. Check in on another fellow human being. Maybe share some dialogue that isn't about our politics. That's how we are all going to come out of this in the end.

I can see why people need limits, but the way I see it is, MAGA is a cult and while the worst of them may need cut off just to help keep my own sanity, that the ones I have chosen to still remain friends with will still be my friend when the cult finally dies. Leaving them without an outlet just makes it easier for them to just find the next cult when the new one arises. I'd rather be a helping hand than a fist to the face.
