Do you think we will ever reach a point where there is perfect balance between both genders? There are still so many parts of this world where women have to live a life of restrictions and lack of freedom and we live in a world where men have to fight to survive and not show weakness because that is what society has decided a long time ago. It makes me wonder: has there ever truly been progress or are we exactly where we began?

No, I don't think "gender equality" is real. And yes, we are fooling ourselves. We have fooled ourselves.

If you ask me, men and women are less equal with each other now than they were 100 years ago. HOLD ON! HOLD ON! Let me explain! The reason why I say that is because I think that if we were to be truly equal, we would each stick with what we're good at and we would each admit that there are certain roles that we are each more well-suited for on every level: spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. The single-track intensity of the mind of a man makes him a better fit to accomplish certain tasks and to be aggressive and competitive. Women are better at being nurturing, which when applied to her children is no small task. That is raising and forming the next generation, which is no small undertaking and neither is it somehow ignoble. The support of the family is why a man works to provide.

This is one of the rotten fruits of feminism, that it has convinced women that they should try to fill the role of a man, but also that men should abdicate the same to women. Additionally, it's also told them that they can't have reasonable desires for and expectations of the other, so it's created resentment and suspicion. I don't care what anyone says, a core element of feminism has always been resentment of men anyway. Or at least mistrust.

Then, when you factor in things like pornography, birth control, and sexual license, all of which (at least these) appeal to our base instincts and don't provide us a whole lot of incentive to be what the opposite sex reasonably expects and desires from the other.

"What about the vote?" To that, I say that even before the 19th Amendment, women still had more equality with men. Men and women weren't cultural enemies for one thing, and for another, in line with what I'd said above, they were actively trying to appeal to each other for marriage. Men in the military, the police, in trades, in business, of various religious faiths and backgrounds would have certain interests and outlooks, which they probably talked over with their wives. So the man would represent the interest of his family by voting for them. His voice was her voice.

I don't know, there are all sorts of different directions I could take this, but I'd like to think that my point is fairly clear that gender equality as we understand it today is a fantasy.

Things like gender equality or any other kind of “equality” is just an excuse for the weak and lazy to ride on the back of the strong and capable

A strong woman can achieve anything she wants and the world is full of strong women doing just that

But the idea that we need to have some kind of system where everyone is getting the exact same things is unfair to those who deserve them and have worked for them and unsustainable for everyone.

And in that sense yes we do have gender equality.
At least in developed countries that is.


Because anyone man or woman can drive, vote, get an education, own property, start a business, work within an existing field, work an independent profession….
And that’s more than enough.


Those that can cut it should succeed and those unwilling to put in the work and the hours should fail.
And that has to be ok. It’s the only way to have an evolving species.

I think we are far far away from justice for women, girls, and female animals (cows, chicken... andso on), you just need to watch all the TrueCrime that pops up everywhere or look at statistics about Femicide, Homicide, Suicide (especially China with their One-Son-Politic). I don’t think it will get any better either because many nations are extremely overpopulated by XY. Even turtles struggel with this.

I'm sorry to disappoint you young lady but...

Look at where human civilization began maybe 5,000 years ago with written language in some form. It was Patriarchal. Low technology. They worshipped gods. They developed agriculture. They had some concept of laws. Education was restricted to royalty and a priestly class. Which meant men.

Now skip forward to about 2,500 years ago. The wheel came along. Written language had evolved. Mathematics had been formalized with algebra and geometry. Egypt, the Roman Empire, and classical Greece were all competing with each other. Shipbuilding existed. But humans still worshipped primitive Gods and society was still Patriarchal. Women were still viewed as a man's property. Education was still out of reach of most people but especially women.

Now jump forward another 2,500 years to 2026. I'll use the USA as an example of western society. Technological knowledge has increased at an exponential pace through the industrial age to the information age to the internet. We have commercial aviation, nuclear weapons, and advanced medicine, along with wireless communication using computers that fit in our pocket and connect us to all human knowledge. But... socially we are barely any better than we were 5,000 years ago. Patriarchal religions are still a huge influence. Women have only been allowed to vote for about 100 years. Women's right to higher education, and rights to own property, have a credit card, a bank account, a car loan, a mortgage, and the right to compete for jobs have only been protected since the late 1960's or about 60 years. And even now, those gains are being contested by a Conservative half of the population who see those things as a threat to male privilege.

We are now monkeys with nuclear weapons still worshipping primitive "Gods" and feeling threatened by any challenge to the social status quo. It's fucking depressing. And dangerous.

There is no such thing as a perfect balance with the genders. And gender equality is nonsense. Women in sports do not bring in anywhere near as much ticket sales and do not perform at men's level, so why do they think they're entitled to equal pay?

Men and women are different physically and neurologically. We both have our strengths and weaknesses and we're best off when we work in harmony. But the truth is (and this may trigger feminists)... humans should be a patriarchy and society worked better when men had more power. Now we're slowly turning into a very disconnected society because of all the conveniences in technology which equal the playing field for women. Physical labour is still needed in many aspects of society, but it's no where near as respected as it used to be. People just take it for granted due to the infrastructure we have.

It's causing this massive movement of "strong independent women" to say they don't need a man, but the funny thing is, the majority of them still want the man to make the same or more than themselves. Now both sexes are in competition with each other. Women are disassociating themselves from tasks like cooking, cleaning, and caring for kids. They're becoming hypermasculine. And because of that, men are also walking away from dating.

Now just to clarify, I'm not saying that women are meant to just cook, clean, and take care of kids. We live in different times and that's definitely not the case. But saying you refuse to do it because you associate it with being oppressed by men is toxic.

Before society became what it is today, everything was based in matriarchy. Our most ancient societies did not follow the leadership of kings, but priestesses and exclusively women could hold these positions of religious leadership as women were the ones believed to be closest to God in their ability to create life. The ONLY reason this changed is because men realized they were essential to that process and that a woman who had never touched a man could not have a child. This was when the world started to change dramatically.
Gender equality is not only real and achievable, and society would become objectively better when it does happen, the only reason it isn’t is because the men who made the patriarchy what it is today did so making sure that almost all societies that followed their pattern would give way to the same proclivities that would require men to be in place because the ONE thing men are better at than women almost every single time is acts of violence. Our societies are built around wars and fighting and the politics therein, which men can do much better than women whose skills lie in diplomacy and the cessation of violence on a global scale. But this has been going on for so long that men made it essential for violence to be present so that they can have a permanent place at the table. This doesn’t mean gender equality or gender equity is impossible, we simply need to show men that violence will not be tolerated and refuse to bear their children. As that part of the population dies and is shunned away, the men who know diplomacy, who are kind, who show compassion, they will be the ones to have children and pass on that legacy. And this is already happening so well that the violent men know their kind is rapidly depleting, that’s why they’re banning abortion and birth control, so as to make sure that violent men are able to violently inseminate women so they can continue that string of power.

Ok this is definitely a better question to ask a woman because they're the ones that can truly express their pov.

As a man, I have seen progress from when I was a kid till now in the US. Slow but some progress. I see it in the workforce for ex, I've had 4 bosses in the last 15 years, all were women that deserved and earned their position.

The issue I see is, I don't know how you can 100% measure this in any sense other than job market and salaries in western countries because most western countries have laws on the books to keep things equal but I understand that doesn't always translate in real life by the treatment of women.

If you look at women's rights in America just in laws alone, you'll see progress over 100 years with women getting the right to vote and women's rights in general. It's so weird this was not that long ago. This also really depends on where you are in the world like you said. Some places women's rights are almost nothing and that is ridiculous to me.

So progress I suppose is happening slowly in some places and not in others. In the places that it is it's never been closer to equal than right now. Going back 100-200 years would be very different.

All this being said I'm on the side of equality for all because it's the right thing to do. It's super easy to know this by just saying if I was a woman I would want to be treated equally. It's that simple.

The desire for equality is indicative of evolutionary pressure in that direction. It is a product of the thinking human mind, the only thing on earth that could even conceive of such a thing. We tend to think of such desires as somehow artificial because we thought them up. But, we did not somehow invent the human brain in a lab and produce it in a factory. It evolved naturally and it's thoughts are a product of nature. So, when people's minds lead them constantly to desire equality, that is no different than when the ground starts to crack because there is volcanic activity beneath. There has been a lot of progress. My mother used to sign herself as Mrs. (my father's name) in the 1960s, before she changed to using her own Christian names. Women were not allowed to open bank accounts without the permission of their father or husband into the 1970's.

There's currently a ridiculous swing in the other direction, with Gen Z "men" apparently thinking women should obey their husbands, but women still have the vote, and should use it to keep it!

Gender equality is improving in many areas, but it’s far from complete.

Progress is real in some spaces , education, workplaces, representation but deep cultural norms and systemic biases still exist.
