Indonesia: Protecting Values or Limiting Freedom?

As an Indonesian citizen, I’m proud to be born and live in this country. Even though some areas are still developing, my faith is Christian while the majority here are Muslim.

I truly admire that many Muslims in Indonesia are tolerant and respectful toward minority religions like mine.

I also appreciate how people strongly hold onto their faith and moral values, which I feel align with my core beliefs and guide behavior responsibly.

I believe this foundation helps many avoid being ego-driven and keeps respect for God at the center of life something I feel is less emphasized in some secular countries.

Of course, morality is complex and shaped by many factors, but the respect for spiritual and cultural values here still plays a major role.

** What’s your opinion about Indonesia’s stance against premarital sex and LGBTQ, considering there are legal consequences for these?

Do you think these laws truly protect cultural and moral values, or do they conflict with individual freedom and modern society?

And what do you know about Indonesia, its culture, and its people?
