For instance my mother doesn't fit the stereotype of the old-school, Latina mother. She's not that religious either and identifies herself as an agnostic. She's actually a child psychologist and we always had close mother-daughter conversations, gentle approach. Lastly, she's soft-spoken and hates violence. That definitely doesn't fit the loud, fiery Latina stereotype either. Hard to believe but she never once laid a hand on me nor on other kids and she's Mexican. They are famously known for ''la chancla aka flipflops'' stereotype.
Just like her ethnicity has stereotypes so do others too. Are stereotypes made only when the majority acts like that, even if not everyone (just like my mother is an exception to the rule) does it?
