Do you think that in the past, the death of a person was a lot more respected then now?

In the past i remember when a person dies, his or her loved ones and even everyone who knew this person used to pray and grief for months...

We weren't allowed to play music or celebrate out loud for weeks...

The person used to be buried and many people attends the funeral for prayers snd condolences, also the family of the dead person always visits the dead person's grave to put flowers, to pray and to always remember their loved ones for their whole lifetime...

Now when someone dies, it seems normal, no one cares, just a minus number from the society, throw the body in the furnace, cremate them and throw their ashes somewhere and that's it, gone forever, no memories no nothing!

I believe in other countries they still pay respects to the dead. They keep their memory alive with 🎊 celebrations like every anniversary year on the date the person passed away.

Like everything though, a funeral without a lot of flowers and things starts at least around $8,00 and goes up from there. Most people just can't afford it.

Even cremation is in the thousands of dollars.

I remember when people only dressed in black was to go to a funeral. And the widow would wear a black dress for 10 or 12 days of mourning her love one that died.

Your friend and family and the neighbors would bring food to the family for at least a week.

People sent flowers and sympathy cards to the house.

It will never be that way again, at least not in America 🇺🇸 unless you have a lot of money.

But most people just don't care about the loss of a person like they once did.

People dress like they're going to Walmart instead of a funeral.

For those who can afford to do these things, you are lucky because not everyone gets to have a funeral and help the family. Actually it hurts me very deeply that I can't afford to treat my loved ones better but I just can't afford it.😞

Actually it's not only in America that people have changed, here too it's the same except for the cremation part, we don't have crematorium here in my country, we bury our deads...

It is not normal but I think people's lives are a lot busier today and that nobody has a lot of time to deal with it. It is doing a disservice to people. I have had people close to me die and nobody bothered to let me know. I never really had the opportunity to say goodbye.

That's what i'm talking, anyone can find time for such sad events, even in companies or anywhere they'll give you a day off or more when there's a funeral for someone who is close to you...

When my mother died the place I worked for gave you a weeks bereavement leave, I got sick of hanging around the house missing my mother so i went back to work early.

there's a whole lot of different cultures, religions, countries, norms... many different ways to deal with these things

personally... and mostly from a Catholic/Christian background, I really haven't seen things change that much or, not at all

yeah. nobody ever did that here. one day of funeral. that's it. rest of the grief happens privately, not in public. it was always like that and it still is like that.
