They've just built one here on the old Wylfa site and ran a competition for locals to name it. The first rule was the name must be pronouncable to English speakers.
Suggestions like Fukushima West, castell cancer, chernobyl Cymru, rwtch rolls royce (rubbish/nonsense) never made the short list.
We ended up with Gwyndod which is supposed to mean innocence/purity/happiness as well as being an old name for that region and the local accent.
However Google translate puts it as "whiteness" and Tolkien says its the gnome word for "woman berry" so I wonder if people were sneakingly taking the piss.
But seriously I do think this is the way to go with power. Less polluting than traditional and more reliable than green alternatives and provide lots of well paid jobs for locals
green energy is highly expensive. Germany and Denmark have the highest electric bills on earth thanks to all the green energy. Also worse for the environment that oil plants. Wind farms kill birds and solar panels when they break in the weather leak inorganic chemicals into the ground. Global warming is a real as the tooth fairy.
Small reactors have one big problem. It's nuclear corrosion. Steel or other metals exposed to gamma and beta radiation turn into substance with strength of cartonnage after a few years. In small reactors there is less moderator material what increases radiation exposure inside reactor and corrosion.
Another problem. Reactors need ton of PTFE gaskets and Zirconium dioxide coating because of nuclear corrosion. Those materials are brittle and smaller parts tend to damage easier.
I think smaller reactors are solution for submarines or some Arctic stations but for energy production is one big reactor more reliable and safer than 10 small ones.
how do you know all this?
I'm not afraid of nuclear power as long as the truth is being told about their safety. As we progress, they're becoming far safer than ever, and let's be real -- some sort of nuclear energy is the power of the future. It sure as shit isn't oil.
well fusion but this will be everywhere in 150 yeras. For now we haev these.
We have no assurance there will be civilization on this planet in 150 years. If so, we'll probably be beyond this and into something even better, that's free to all.
we will be around. I think alien planets use fusion so we will be just like them. it manufactures elements. then after that there is anti matter. this is made with element 115 made from fusion.
Let me put it this way; everything you think you know now about energy and fusion will seem archaic in 150 years. Optimism is nice, but humanity is now fully capable, and equipped to destroy itself. There are approximately 12,187 known nuclear warheads on this planet, and plenty of stupid people in charge of them. Anything can happen, and it usually does. Fortunately, I won't be here to find out... as far as I know! lol
no we will perfect fusion and be manufacturing elements by then.
No what? No, we'll still be around? Maybe yes, maybe no. If you're trying to say "No, what we think we know now about fusion or science will NOT be vastly improved upon, and some of which totally outdated in 150 years", you can stop the conversation now.
It's very exciting. I just wish they would start using them. They've been talking about them for so many years.

no thanks... I don't need that much power
my AC's are very efficient... lol
Don't have much info about it, so i can't tell yes or no...
Sounds like a good idea.
5 years to make and meltdown proof. cheap electricity. I like them.
yup looks like this will become popular soon enough. not more reliance on oil. also data centeres use up water. this gives off lots of electricity so this can substitute.
It seems like a good idea.
I think they may become popular in the future. This will also help fusion research.
I agree 100%.
I want any type of nuclear.
We ain't at war
this is power plants not weapons
