From an entirely external, I'd note a personality/vibe campaign is very different to a character/policy campaign.

Character is important or should be important to voters as it enables extrapolation of how they will govern beyond stated policies.

Personality does not allow that; especially when the personality is not inclined to give concise answers to direct questions.

How Americans reacted I cannot say but external to the US I think she was viewed as dumb as dog shit. In my neck of world it was disturbing she didn't know North Korea was an adversary, not an ally.
