It’s not true that you can’t have more than 3 c-sections. You CAN and many women do, the world record for the most c-sections a woman has had is 11, but it’s not recommended to do more than 3 because it increases the risk for complications with the placenta or uterine rupture in future pregnancies.

Research show that the main reason for black women having more c-sections might be a combination of doctors being extra paranoid that they will die during childbirth (black women die in childbirth more often than any other race, which is a different topic in itself), greed - the hospital earns more money on c-sections and staffing issues - they want to spread out the births during the day and speed deliveries up and c-sections is an effective way to do that. The research show that when the operating rooms are full or there’s another c-section going on the emergency c-section rate goes down for all races but it goes down the most for black women. When the or is empty the rate goes up for everyone, but more for black women.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (a professional association of about 60,000 doctors who basically set the medical practice guidelines for obstetricians in this country) only recommend 3 c sections max for all women.
