Would you personally vote for a democratic socialist for president?

A Washington Post-Ipsos poll found that 55% of Americans would not consider voting for a democratic socialist for president, while 39% would consider it and 6% had no opinion. Among independents, 54% said they would rule out such a candidate. The poll surveyed 2,648 adults from July 8–13 and had a margin of error of ±1.9 percentage points.

Democratic-socialist candidates have recently gained influence in Democratic primaries, raising questions about whether that movement could remain popular within the Democratic base while struggling to attract a national majority.
