Do people really live today thinking people with power aren't corrupt?

It would be very hard for anyone that isn't living for God or fear of a higher power in general to live with power and not be corrupt, there's legit nothing in their mind stopping them and even less things like out of reach or poverty. Don't you sometimes think of things like "I wish I could send someone to this meeting in my place" or "I wish someone would come out of nowhere and punch that guy for talking shit" my theory is that it's much easier to be corrupt than it is to live a moral code in general, am i to believe that the majority of these powerful and wealthy people are free of corruption, I think something as simple as lying about something important or remaining silent is enough to be considered corruption so why do these people still have followers? Only two answers cross my mind, they have the self awareness of a sunfish or they are just as corrupt at heart.


I'm not going to put this in the political category but if gag decides to do so, it will fall into the proper audience.

I know some people who think most politicians are wholesome and genuinely want the good of society, and that there's only a couple bad apples. A lot of people are very naive.

All politicians are on the same side, they would all step on you if that's the easiest solution to solving a problem
