Poor, but when I do work, I get $35 an hour, I also invested really well when I made more money when I was younger. I worked multiple jobs and my business.

I think of myself as a working class guy, but by these criteria, I am upper middle class.

I was earning roughly 50-60k a year in the mid to late 90's, but that was before the internet and big box stores like Home Depot, etc supplanted smaller sales outfits. So, I saved my money, invested (mostly) well and continued working other, non sales related jobs. So, I don't really fit into any above categories as they are listed above, except the bottom category (I'm currently semi retired and work part time making sandwiches), yet I've managed to do okay. Becoming financially successful is rarely about how much you make, unless you make a lot. It's more about how much you can save, and how well you can invest it.

My retirement income combined with my wife's puts us in the working class category.
But I have a decent amount of savings in an IRA. It is managed by an investment company and grows consistently.
We also have a house and gorgeous property that is worth about 450k even though we still owe around 250k on the mortgage. The monthly payments are way less that it would cost to rent an apartment, so we are doing alright.

delaying expensive things like wives and offspring

it's called not taking expensive drugs and staying away from people with knives and drugs... doctors... as much as possible

it's called being a little lucky and fortunate.

It's called staying out of debt, getting out of debt quickly.

Granted, some people don't even have the first one and they start in a big rut.

I don’t even think “salary” anymore. It is not a good metric after a certain point. When I was working 5 years ago, I was in the Top 1%. I don’t work anymore and arguable I am in the Owning Class on this chart or certainly the top end of Upper Class. I generate $1 million dollars every 26 months without working. I spend half that as I have no debt. In 5 years it will take 22 months and in 10 years it will take 18 months for a million and so on. But that is what I generate in net worth increases, not what I claim on taxes as a “salary”.

I have learned that the world mechanisms do not do well with using non-salary as a metric. The world also doesn’t handle multiple home addresses well either.

Other metrics call me “Wealthy” which is in excess of $5 million USD. Rich is $3.2 million according to Wealth Management people. Yet other metrics call me Very High Net Worth. I am above High Net Worth but below Ultra High Net Worth which is in excess of $30 million.

vote poor with high class. You are just 21 though , you are supposed to be poor until you find "the job". When I was 21, I just expanded my lawn service. Not many customers. No Silver yet. No Art, No investments yet. Just College and part time business.

With those statistics I would say upper middle class. Although some years it's more like the owning class depending on how well I do. I work very hard for my money. I also enjoy my work A great deal and that helps.
