A shopkeeper in Anglesey has put up a sign banning Reform voters. For those outside the UK, Reform is a far right political party that operates along the lines of Americas MAGA.
As you may imagine, they're unpopular with many people, particularly with leftwing voters (and quite a few on the right too).
During a recent conference a female protester was rightly evicted by security but several members of the audience attacked her while in custody pulling her hair and one person gave her a few hard whacks of a walking cane. In typical "MAGA" fashion the beaten woman was then mocked by party leaders.
But is it acceptable to ban people for how they vote or does that open the doors to banning people on other grounds such as race and gender?

Liberal businesses do that all the time in the US. It's fine.
Of course, a lot of them go out of business due to a lack of sufficient customers, but that's just open-market capitalism.

Hollywood has tried this multiple times: "We don't care what you think - this movie wasn't made for you." Then two months later, that movie exits the theaters with a loss in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
Video games too. At least 30 entire studios have either been shut down completely, significantly downsized, or sold off because their game was targeting a specific audience instead of the gaming audience and, well, it turns out that when you invest $400 million dollars into a game, you need more than 1000 people to buy it.
The market is surprisingly good at working these things out all by itself.
In the US, political affiliation isn’t a protected class. I think shopkeepers should have the right to refuse service for any reason or no reason at all. If people don’t like it, then they shop somewhere else. If the store policy is bad, then the market will put them out of business. Here’s the problem as i see it. Well, there are a few. Contrary to your assertion, MAGA is not “far right”. The reason many long time republicans oppose Drumpf is that some of his policies and practices are hurting the big corporations that traditionally fund republicans. Drumpf was a lifelong democrat supporter before he ran for president, and his work has proven that he didn’t outgrow his moderate legacy. The mainstream media loved him before he ran as a republican and they alone created this “far right” narrative to disparage him out of spite. Second, if the shopkeeper didn’t also ban the far left and bigoted cops after Henry Nowak was cuffed while bleeding to death as his killer stood by and watched, and the radical left government did nothing but make excuses, well… then he’s a hypocrite. Something tells me if someone who votes differently from him was being beat up for attacking people who vote like him, he wouldn’t be protesting and banning his cohorts. Hopefully the reasonable people of his community boycott him and he goes out of business. Or maybe someone he cares about gets r*ped and murdered by an import and nothing is done about it. Then maybe he’ll rethink his hypocrisies. Either way, i support his right to be a bellend in a free market. Cheers!
It may be legal to refuse to service certain customers, based on one's political or religious beliefs, but I personally believe it is always wrong. 2hen you agree to open a business that provides a service, that service should be available to all, no questions asked.
The only exception would be if the service would result in violating the law. For example, if a customer asked a baker to bake a cake laced with poison.
In my opinion, this is a simple case of keeping your personal life and your business life separate, which many people have not learned how to do.

Where it gets dicey is being refused a public, government, service because the desk clerk doesn't agree with whatever it is they don't like. For example a Kentucky Justice of the Peace refusing to issue a marriage license to a man because she doesn't like gay marriage even though it's legal. Should the clerk be fired for not doing their job? Is it their right to refuse? Personally I think if it's in the job description and the employee doesn't want to do it then they need to find different employment, but an individual shop owner? It's their business to manage...

I thought that business have the right to refuse service for any reason. Now that being said, it may not be the best idea to advertise your bias if you are more concerned about keeping your business afloat. The thing with the MAGA types are that they want to be able to ban things they don't agree with but get up in arms on social media about anyone who goes against them. They are a bunch of delicate snowflakes.
That being said, I do believe that store owners have the right to refuse, they just have to be prepared to face consequences for their stances one way or another.
The purpose of a shop is to sell goods and services, and thus generally spoken private convictions should not be invoked to refuse the shop's services. Sometimes case sensitive of course, but when a customer enters a shop to buy whatever goods, of what relevance would it be for the shop keeper to first ask about the customer's convictions?
Mind it is also up to that customer to not start ranting about their convictions, which sometimes might lead some shop keepers to throw them out... Often case sensitive I guess.

Im not keen on banning folks because of things they have no control over (in the US this is most applicable concerning LGBT folks) because of things they have 100% control over, such as religion... but IF this will be the case, being an LGBT woman, it seems more than fair to ban people for things they have control over, in this case political affiliation, because of their positions concerning things I dont have control over, such as being LGBT or a woman.
All of this said, considering I am a casino dealer, I LOVE dealing to MAGA because I get to bait them and drain their bank accounts... and every dollar they give to the casino is a dollar they can't use to support people who are hell bent on taking away my rights.

Absolutely. I refuse to work with any MAGA clients. Why would I help a rat turd save a business he's run into the ground with stupidity. The aggravation of working with stupid people who can't take input or manage to change is not worth the money.
This supports reform as if this be allowed then so is rejecting immigrants based on political belief. But store owner can't see how that plays out, also store owner thinks he can spot which way you vote by looking at you... lacking brain cells

You're confused.
Race and gender are not things one can change, and they are legally recognized. Politics is not a legally protected statute, hence your argument is moot.
Also, far right political ideologies and parties are legally seen as destructive, and the courts often recognize such tendencies. So it is legally acceptable to ban such people for being a nuisance and low life.

I wouldn't bar anyone service, even people as despicable as Reform or MAGA. You should have the right to if you want, but it's not a sound business practice. You need all the customers you can get these days. You don't have to like your customers, they just need to spend their money there, that's it. You're gonna go out of business if you start having political litmus tests for customers.
He can ban who ever he wants, it's his money he doesn't want to earn. Political pendulum swings to right side in UK and it will remain there a while, he can't do anything against.
When governments have already made it illegal to deny service to people based on gender, sexual preference and disability... how can you possibly say what is and is not acceptable? Merely to ask is to lose the argument.
