How can I handle my mum guilt-tripping me over applying for government housing?

I can’t work full time, because I am a mild schizophrenic, which is well managed, but I live on the disability pension. I can’t afford private rentals and my parents can’t afford to buy me an apartment (I never felt entitled to it, they just said they looked but couldn’t afford one). So i finally got onto the government housing list. My dad thinks it’s a good idea. My mum got mad at my dad for annoying me and blamed him for my wanting to move out and then got mad at me for getting on the list. When I told her she was overreacting, she asked me how I’ll survive living on the pension alone. Even on government housing. I ignored it and sat inside with dad. Then she sat beside me and sniffled, a few times, like she’d been crying. Which I ignored. I heard dad chuckle to himself.

I am nearly thirty eight. I’m single; and I want to move out and live life on my own, as an adult, even though I’ll have to make sacrifices. I want to support myself financially and I don’t think it’s fair on my parents to have me living here, taking up costs and being in their way. It’s a small house. Also I’d like a partner. I don’t think I can realistically have one, or a proper sex life while I’m living with my parents.
