Are you surprised by this list of the Most Educated Countries (Adults)?
Does it look correct to you?
1. The list is intentionally misleading. Qualifications vary greatly in different countries and so does reporting.
2. "Educated" does not mean intelligent or that their "degree" is actually for anything useful. There are plenty of useless degrees.
3. There is no enforced grading standards for getting a degree. Two people, even attending the same university for the same degree or certificate can have different teachers that have very different standards for completing the course. (Witnessed that IRL myself.)
4. Completing a certificate program also counts as graduating. When it comes to percentages in charts like those, it is possible for 1 country to have many certificate program graduates, and another to have an equal amount of BA degree graduates. They would be counted as the same for those types of statistics.
5. Charts like that are often used to intentionally mislead the public near election time to either assist in electing a specific person or party, or to get a public bond bill passed. Always look into the motivation behind it when you see stuff like that before making any decisions based on the information provided.
I'm not sure if you are reacting to the relatively low position of the US. I think that would be largely due to countries subsidizing university education. I got a scholarship without ever asking for it.
In addition I think we would find a lot of degrees are in useless subjects that aren't worthy of 4 year degrees. I was pretty surprised the world famous Jane Doe was studying Hotel Management at Cornell. WTF? Should Cornell have degrees in HM?
That is almost as bad as degrees in Feminist Studies.
I am very doubtful that society needs degrees in HM or FS and a university doesn't make people smarter.
With 60% of high school graduates doing university degrees we know strait off the IQ bell curve the bottom of the 60% will have an IQ of 95 points. Remember the average is 100 points.
So there will be less than average intelligence students in courses and the courses will need to be dumbed down in order for them to pass. Or be in dumb subjects like Feminist Studies and Hotel Managment though I would admit HM is at a higher level than F.
I think you are engineer if I remember right. Society absolutely does need professional engineers. But you can't just shuffle people through engineering schools. Students need to be around 130. Dumbing down to enable 95 point people to do bridge designs is not in the best interests of society.
I live in the US but grew up in Britain/Ireland. There most people by 18 have completed the equivalent of what US kids do by by 22.
America does definitely have the best, brightest and most educated people in the world. But also the most people with bullshit degrees.
https://youtube.com/shorts/x--y4t2c33Y?is=AxKBtdEfGtam5Bhd Must be why the Brits are so smart to surrender their country to Islamism, and arrest natives for daring to speak out on social media ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Sooooo smart
@FrodoSkywalker007 trump is out in two years. Then the US boarder will be wide open and sanctuary cities over run. Glass houses and stones my friend.
Perhaps. Democrats certainly prefer western collapse.
I've posted plenty about the threats if leftism, even my answer here.
@FrodoSkywalker007 new york city and minesota is a prime example
Of course
There is CIA source and this looks different. OECD is a meme organization

There's something fundamentally wrong with this list, and it starts with the title. Having a college degree isn't necessarily the same thing as being educated.
What we're actually looking at is the percentage of adults in each country who have completed some form of education beyond high school. That might mean a two-year technical qualification or a doctorate. Both count equally. The list tells us nothing about what people actually know, how well they reason, or whether their education has given them a meaningful understanding of the world.
There's also the problem of comparing countries with very different educational systems. Some place greater emphasis on university degrees, while others have excellent vocational and technical training programs. That doesn't necessarily make one population better educated than another.
And why are only 47 countries included in a supposedly worldwide ranking?
The statistics themselves may be perfectly accurate, but the conclusion being drawn from them isn't justified. Educational attainment is one thing. Intellectual ability, knowledge, and the capacity for critical thinking are quite another.
A more accurate title would be Countries Ranked by the Percentage of Adults Holding Postsecondary Educational Qualifications.
That might not attract as much attention, but at least it would be accurate.
@DryGermanGuy is butthurt that Germany is so low. 😂
No, I'm not surprised. Most people I know have a degree. The issue is if it means anything. If the Crowder vs Randall debate has proven anything, it doesn't. Randall held tenure at Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard for over 30 years and still got intellectually wooped by a college drop out.
Universities have become propaganda centers. They care little about education, and more about activism and Marxist doctrine. This coming from someone who also has a college degree.
You laugh but the only funny thing here is that you make jokes about Germany sitting low, when the main reason for this is their dual education system which is pretty famous for producing excellent results and making a higher degree seen as less important, unlike in some other countries like the US or UK. Things educated people could know ๐
Always the sign of intelligence to allow the enemies in the gates ๐
of what I've seen of USA people, being educated doesn't mean they are educated.
If there was a standardized test, that help level it. I see HS kids that cannot read. I suspect in China at same level, they can.
Norway is surprisingly low.
So who knows...
A high percentage of 'University degrees' indicates that it's quite easy to get one.
It also indicates an unhealthy population structure - imagine a company with 200 managers and 1 worker.
This list actually says little - that's why it does not surprise me. And thus it does not matter if it looks right to me, or not. :)
Only if the USA includes all the cosmetology school alumni and certified car salesmen.
I was with it...
till I saw the USA up there
then I laughed so unexpectedly I almost lost half a lung
It looks like it is reporting post-secondary education, not bachelors degree or higher. e. g. Certificate in hairdressing counts the same as a PhD.
Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, & Norway all have the similar Cheistian Cross on their flags. They once fought as pagans against Christians.
Christ won. โ๏ธ
That's the Nordic cross, several parts of the UK also fly it.
It's a measure of how much each nation puts education as a high priority and how accessible it is for those who can
Comparing apples and oranges. The systems in countries are very different so chucking them all on the same chat like this is pretty meaningless.
What having gone through education doesn't mean you're educated.
Europe had proven this by letting their nations be overrun by those who hate them ๐
Things edDuCaAted people know
america has a nation filled with kids who can't do math at all yet they are the most educated on earth. what a joke.
it is surprising that China and India have such a low percentage.
No, it's not. You can't cram hundreds of millions of people into universities. There is literally no space.
@DryGermanGuy They can send them to America.
95% of them would not have the money for that.
Content for "degrees" varies too widely for this to be meaningful.
Ireland is much higher then i thought they'd be.
this is why college should be free, it makes people get masters and education easily
@AviatorTom % doesn't look right. 🤔
Hmmm, probably not completely right.
Where is Russia?
Yeah, seems legit
