Why do family argue about politics at family gatherings?

It’s so annoying when my family does it. It makes us fight for no reason and not want to talk to each other anymore. What causes families to talk about politics during family events when it just becomes an argument? Don’t they have other things to talk about?

I don't like politics and i have my own views, i don't support anyone unless they were doing something that i already like or agree with...

I never reach a level where i feel that a convo about a politics will lead to a brawl with someone i know or even someone i don't know...
