Do smart people know they are smart? do they have pride about how smart they are?

[Tigress1039]

tell me what achievement you have to back this

[ChiTown33]

I had a bestfriend who growning up was a brainiac. He was our graduating class's valedictorian. He told me once i was just as smart as him, i just didn't apply myself like he did. He went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska. With a 4.0 in Physics. Again, his class valedictorian.

Now i think that's pretty smart. But he was absolutely WRONG about me being as smart as him. So why did he say that? So i would feel better about myself? I think it's because i was a clown. I was always clowning. And on some level he wanted to be less button up. But button up was just who he was. At least that's my assessment. I could be wrong. Point is he was never arrogant about how smart he was.

I know he wanted to be an astronaut. He never became an astronaut. So at some point he surrendered that dream. We lost touch (my fault). Last i heard he was a professor at the University of Minnesota.

only if they're smart enough to realize they're smart...

[MrChinaski]

Dunning-Kruger : Dumb people think they know more than they do; smart people think they know less than they do.

[NathanDavis]

@MrChinaski yeah... I realized that back in middle-school days, when I used to tutor University guys for a couple of things here and there

I think smart people know they are smart… but they also know there’s so much more to learn and know… so you usually don’t hear them bragging.

[Agape93]

Yeah we know, pride has fuck all to do with it. Granted we are rightly a bit arrogant about it.

[Agape93]

Let's see i speak 3 languages and have a basic understanding of two more, I aced AP chemistry, I have amazing memory and im very quick to pick up information and skills.

[DryGermanGuy]

Yes. But this only makes one realize how much one still doesn’t know. Standing in a library and getting one book among tens of thousands of books always makes me feel that way.

[MrChinaski]

An elegant comment.

[msc545]

I am a PhD neuropsychologist. I guess I'm a little bit smart perhaps.

[MrChinaski]

I'm not proud.

[Iron_Man]

of course, they know they’re cocky
